Marvel Star Emily VanCamp Turns 40 — See Photos of Her Then & Now

It’s Emily VanCamp’s 40th birthday! The Canadian actress was born on May 12, 1986, in Port Perry, Ontario.

VanCamp began acting in the late 1990s and landed her first on-screen roles in the early 2000s. Some of those early roles included playing the eponymous character in the 2000 television film “Jackie Bouvier Kennedy Onassis,” the 2001 Canadian drama movie “Lost and Delirious,” and her first major role in a television series as Amy Abbott in the WB drama series “Everwood,” starting in 2003.

Now, VanCamp is most famous for playing the lead role of Emily Thorne on the ABC series “Revenge,” playing Nicolette “Nic” Marie Nevin on the Fox medical drama “The Resident,” and playing secret agent Sharon Carter in both movies and television shows in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Movie-wise, she appeared in the 2001 Canadian drama movie “Lost and Delirious,” the 2002 crime thriller “No Good Deed,” and the 2004 drama movie “A Different Loyalty.”

On television, she gained several early credits, beginning with playing Jackie Bouvier in the 2000 television film “Jackie Bouvier Kennedy Onassis.” In 2000, she also appeared in three episodes of the horror anthology series “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” and an episode of Canadian sitcom “Radio Active.” 2001 saw her appear in an episode of the paranormal medical drama “All Souls” and the Canadian/British drama miniseries “Dice.” In 2002, she appeared in the television film “Redeemer” and landed a key role in the short-lived mystery drama series “Glory Days.” Most pertinently, in 2002, she embarked on her main role as Amy Abbott in the WB drama series “Everwood,” which lasted until 2006.

In the mid-late 2000s, VanCamp added to her credits on both the big and small screens.

Movies she appeared in were the short film “Rings” and horror movie “The Ring Two” in 2005, the independent coming-of-age drama “Black Irish” in 2007, and the post-apocalyptic horror movie “Carriers” in 2009.

She continued her role in “Everwood” until 2006, appeared in an episode of police procedural series “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” in 2007, and landed a main role in the family drama series “Brothers & Sisters” that started in 2007 and ended in 2010.


The Early 2010s

The early 2010s were an important time for VanCamp.

Regarding movies, she starred in the 2010 drama movie “Norman,” but also landed her most famous movie role as Sharon Carter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe offering “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.”

Television-wise, she appeared in the 2010 miniseries “Ben Hur,” the 2011 Hallmark television drama film “Beyond the Blackboard,” and hosted the 2014 special “Marvel 75 Years: From Pulp to Pop!” Most pertinently, she began her role as Emily Thorne in the ABC series “Revenge.” The role lasted from 2011 until 2015.


The Mid-Late 2010s

VanCamp added three movie credits and one television credit to her filmography in the mid-late 2010s.

On the big screen, she appeared in the 2015 drama movie “The Girl in the Book,” reprised her role as Sharon Carter in 2016’s superhero movie “Captain America: Civil War,” and starred in the Canadian drama film “Boundaries” that same year.

On television, she completed her role in “Revenge” in 2015. Her only new credit came as Nicolette “Nic” Nevin in medical drama “The Resident.” It was a main role that lasted from 2018 until 2022.


The Early 2020s

While VanCamp only had one movie credit in the early 2020s, she added signifantly to her catalogue of television roles.

That one movie she appeared in was the 2023 period drama “Miranda’s Victim.”

Small screen credits included the 2020 television special “The Disney Family Singalong,” reprising her role as Sharon Carter in the 2021 superhero series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” and voicing Carter in two episodes of “What If…?” in 2021 and 2024, and appearing in the 2021 documentary “Marvel Studios: Assembled.” She also continued her role in “The Resident” until 2022.
