Blake Lively Shares Emotional Statement About Feeling ‘Such Great Loss’ As Dolly Parton Passes

Blake Lively has broken her silence on the passing of iconic singer and actress, Dolly Parton. The legend’s family announced her passing today at the age of 80. It followed an undisclosed but brief battle with cancer.

Blake’s tribute joins a sea of sweet and devastated posts online right now. She unapologetically gushed all about Dolly’s brilliance and deemed her as a “warrior”.

Blake Lively’s Tribute to Dolly Parton

Among Blake’s 39th birthday posts to her Instagram story is a special post dedicated to Dolly. Blake reposted a video clip snippet of Dolly speaking in an old Rolling Stone interview, where she speaks in such a motivational way.

Upon being asked about her biggest mistakes, Dolly says: “Haven’t made any. I try to look at my life as a series of events and what other people would call a mistake, I wouldn’t. Some times what looks like it would be my biggest mistakes turn out to be my biggest blessings.”

Alongside the video, Blake penned: “Love you Dolly. Always. So lucky to grow up with you, a woman like you as an idol. Someone who balanced grace and grit constantly. Outspoken for others, a warrior who still felt kind.

“Your smile and simple feeling sweetness was the way you smuggled brilliance, ferocity, advocacy and poetry into popular culture. You are one of one.

“Today is a day of such great loss. But also a beautiful celebration of her life. As it should be.”

Blake then ended the post by dropping a link to Dolly’s Imagination Library scheme, encouraging viewers to donate.

Dolly’s Family Share She Has Passed Away

Dolly Parton’s family posted a video message to her social media profiles today announcing that she had passed away. Bryan Seaver read out the tragic news, speaking to a camera. He shared: “Hey everyone, my name is Bryan Seaver, son of Cassie Parton, and I am representing the Parton and Owens family today announcing the passing of my aunt Dolly Rebecca Parton Dean.

“Sister, sis, aunt, granny to one generation, and Gigi to the next. This video announcement is something Dolly asked of me years ago before I fully absorbed it as a future reality. As her head of security for more than two decades, a role my father Larry held before me, I have imagined the heaviness of this moment but haven’t truly felt it until now. It is an honor, an honor that is mixed with absolute pride and great sadness. But sadness lies with us, but not with Dolly.

“Dolly has lived in the light […] met by Carl, her parents, and countless others who have watched her and longed for her to meet them in the heavens. […] Dolly also opened doors for generations of singers, songwriters, musicians and dreamers from every walk of life , and across every continent. By her example, we believed that anything was possible.

“She never saw a door she couldn’t open, and the doors she opened made and changed history. My family and I have shared a lifetime of beautiful memories with Dolly, but so have you. She has always been on your television, your record player, your CD, and your phone playlist becoming an extended part of your family.”

Rest in peace to Dolly Parton and best wishes to her loved ones.
