The gorgeous Katy Perry is one of the most successful and instantly recognizable women on the planet.
Former “American Idol” judge and singer of iconic songs like “I Kissed a Girl,” “Teenage Dream” and “Firework” Perry, 41, has been in a number of high-profile relationships. She was married to British comedian, actor, and podcaster Russell Brand from 2010 until 2012. Then, from 2016 until 2025, she was in a relationship with British actor Orlando Bloom, with whom she has a daughter (Daisy Dove Bloom, who’s now six).
Following her much publicized split from Bloom, while still suffering emotionally, Perry had to continue traveling around the world on her “Lifetimes Tour.” She managed to weather the breakup and make the tour a huge success, and it can now be witnessed by even more fans in the form of a concert film, “Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour — Live From Paris”, which is in theaters and IMAX for a limited time starting today, Wednesday, September 2.
The tour would also ultimately provide Perry with a huge dose of happiness, as she met her now-partner, the former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau while she was on it.
Perry recently spoke to People about her experiences on the tour, meeting Trudeau, and what she told her therapist that may just have manifested her meeting him.
Katy Perry Says Touring During Split From Orlando Bloom Was ‘The Hardest Time’
GettyIn a candid chat with People, Katy Perry admitted, “Look, last year was really hard.”
However, she added that, despite her tour being a difficult thing to do during a breakup, everything ultimately turned out great. Perry said, “I learned how to step back into my purpose and I got the greatest gift from this tour: I got to meet the love of my life.”
Looking back on the tough tour experience — and looking forward to people seeing the concert film about it — Perry added, “A lot of people said I couldn’t do it and gave me a lot of flak — and I did it. Some people are like, ‘Cringe, cringe, cringe,’ but I’m living my [expletive] life to the fullest!”
About her split from Orlando Bloom, the star said, “It was probably the hardest time. My friends were all hanging out back home. I was crying and just feeling far away. But then my angels went to work. They really showed up.”
Regarding those “angels” showing up, she continued, “I got to meet Justin on tour, and then things shifted.”
Perry also pulled out a “to-do” list she had handwritten last August. After unfolding it, she read the last line item aloud, saying, “Number 10 just says, ‘True Love.’ And I think that’s where we’re at.”
Perry Told Her Therapist She Wanted a ‘Legendary Love’
GettyKaty Perry saw a therapist following her split from Orlando Bloom. The relationship ending affected her deeply, as she admits, “I wouldn’t have stayed in something for nine years if there wasn’t really important things to learn. Each relationship is a teacher, right?”
She then explained, “I had to let it go so I could move forward. I always wanted this epic legendary love, and I was talking to my therapist about it: Everything in my life is epic, but this is kind of the missing puzzle piece — then it showed up.”
Could it be that opening up about the legendary love she yearned for made her meeting with Justin Trudeau happen?
The former Canadian prime minister, 54, has been a rock for Perry since they met. He’s attended 10 of her 20 recent shows and Perry says, “He knows the words, he’s supportive, and he’s in awe; it’s super healing. He is really heart-centered, and I think that we align in that way. I’m so grateful.”
Perry says she is “living my life, so I can write about my life.” That writing will come in the form of new music and we’re looking forward to hearing it.
The star released a greatest hits album, “The Ones That Got the Plays,” earlier in 2026. Her most recent new music came in the form of the singles “Watch It Burn” this year and “Bandaids” in 2025.
We wish Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau all the happiness in the world together.
