The tributes continue to pour in for the late, great Dolly Parton following her sad passing yesterday at the age of 80. One of the latest has come from former “American Idol” judge, Katy Perry.
“Queen of Camp” Perry, 41, met “Queen of Country” Parton many times. She also followed in her country music footsteps on numerous occasions. For instance, her 2022 single “Where We Started” was a collaboration with country star Thomas Rhett and the title track of his album that year.
The “I Kissed a Girl” and “Firework” performer — a bona fide music superstar in her own right — took to social media to pay her respects to the iconic “9 to 5” singer.

Katy Perry shared her touching tribute to the late Dolly Parton with the 195 million followers on her Instagram account.
The post includes a carousel of eight images and one video. Six of the images show Perry with Parton. The other two show Perry at Parton’s Dollywood theme park and a screenshot of a 2016 tweet in which Perry sweetly praised the late star.
However, the video is the post’s main focal point. It’s a 9-second clip of Perry with Parton at the Hollywood Bowl in California. The two look very friendly and smiley. Perry says that Parton is about to head out to perform and they both tell their fans that they love them.
Perry’s caption on her post begins, “Like the rest of the world, my heart sank seeing the news of dear Dolly’s passing. She meant so much to so many people for so long.”
The caption continues, “For me, she was an example of a woman who defied the stereotypes for decades. She proved that big boobs, big brains, and a big voice can all exist in one tiny body! But the biggest thing about her by far was her heart.”
It goes on, “I had the honor of meeting and singing with her several times. Every time I saw Dolly, she was a pure, sweet (but not saccharine) sassy, cup of joy.”
Perry then says, “Her way of looking at life with a sense of humor has always been an inspiration to me… I remember having a dream of having her sing with me for my Super Bowl show, popping out of a larger than life rhinestone cowboy boot… and though she couldn’t do it at the time she sent my team a sweet note, through fax… it was 2015! lol.”
The star’s caption concludes, “If there’s someone you wanna look up to and model your life after, it’s Dolly. Dolly was glam, funny, and kind as [expletive]. Her star will forever shine bright and I bet you she’s already remodeling them pearly gates with rhinestones. We will always love you Dolly!”
Perry’s fans and followers rushed to the comments section of her post to pay their own respects to Parton.

Finally, one individual wrote a particularly long message, commenting, “..a beautiful tribute for the one & ONLY Dolly Parton. i shared your photos together today as I know she & Lucille Ball are huge inspirations for you & 2 of my very favorites from childhood, before I ever knew who you were. Katy Perry is one of millions of people mourning the monumental loss of Parton. We hope she’s coping well and that Parton’s memory will be a blessing to her.
