After the internet spent days searching for the mysterious “Scott Kelly,” the man behind the viral résumé moment has stepped forward and landed a spot on “The Tonight Show” to share what really happened.
“Scott Kelly’s work ethic and critical thinking inspired me to write the line ‘red dress,'” Nick Jonas commented on the original video, which showed a man reviewing Kelly’s resume at a Jonas Brothers concert.
Just four days later, Scott Kelly has been found!
Scott Kelly Surprises The Jonas Brothers on ‘The Tonight Show’
Kelly broke his silence following the viral November 11 TikTok video, telling The Washington Post, “I would’ve bet every dollar I own … that this would never happen. It’s nice for folks to have that much faith in a stranger.”
“My inbox is so flooded with opportunities right now. It’s hard to know where I’m going to start, but right now I’m working on growing my opportunities where I am,” he told the outlet on Thursday, November 13.
Kelly wasn’t joking as just hours later, Jimmy Fallon invited him to join the brothers for an appearance on “The Tonight Show.”
“It’s been an interesting week,” Kelly said. “So, Monday I’m sitting in class for an MBA program I’m going through. My buddy hits me up and says, ‘Hey, dude. You’re going famous on TikTok.’ I don’t even have a Tiktok.”
He went on to say that his friend sent him a blurry screenshot asking whether the resume in question belonged to the telecommunications specialist.
While he first denied being the “Scott Kelly” the internet was searching for, he later decided to download TikTok to investigate.
“It was later confirmed because the gentleman who was actually in the video reached out on Veteran’s Day of all days,” he continued. “I get this random message I don’t recognize…Turns out, he and I were in the same infantry battalion in the U.S. Army back in 2014.”
Plot twist: Scott Kelly “never actually applied for a job.”
Scott Kelly Had Never Heard of the Jonas Brothers
Kelly shocked Kevin, Joe and Nick — as well as Fallon and the audience — when he admitted to not knowing who the Jonas Brothers were.
“Can I tell you a real thing? I had never heard of you before this,” he said on Thursday’s episode. “My wife had to tell me. I didn’t have Disney Channel growing up. I didn’t know!”
The brothers burst out laughing, but it was clearly no love lost because shortly after filming they shared a video to TikTok featuring their special guest.
“LOUUUDER because we found Scott Kelly 🗣️” they captioned the video, which was set to their hit song “Backwards.”
