The Sex Pistols were formed in 1975, and the founding members included Johnny Rotten, Steve Jones, Paul Cook, and Glen Matlock. Sid Vicious briefly replaced Matlock in 1977. Fifty years later, beloved guitarist Steve Jones is still rocking out, but he had to make an unexpected update on September 2, after it was revealed that he had sustained an injury.
Steve Jones Shares Health Update With Fans
The iconic ’70s band revealed that they would be postponing and rescheduling shows in North and South America after Jones broke his wrist. They announced the news on Instagram on September 2, informing fans that they would make up the shows as soon as he was healed.

“We have some unfortunate news to share about our upcoming North and South American performances. We’ll let Steve explain what’s going on,” the message begins. “I’ve got some good news and bad news. What do you want first? Okay, the bad news: I’ve broken my wrist, so unfortunately we won’t be doing any shows for a while,” Jones wrote.
He continued, “The good news is the surgeon said I will be back playing guitar in the not-too-distant future. The other good news is I’ll be 70 tomorrow! God bless, and God save the wrist.”
Fans Show Their Support

The band ended the message by thanking their fans for their “understanding and support.” The comment section has received an outpouring of love from fans who are wishing Jones a speedy recovery and a Happy Birthday!
Reactions include “It’s your Birthday so I know you’ll get lotsa love. You’re a strong guy and will make the best of it,” “Much love, Stevie,” and “Bummed about your wrist. Bummed about the shows, but happy birthday anyway!”
“Hope for a speedy recovery Jonesy!” another comment reads.

The show is greatly anticipated and will star Steve Jones, Paul Cook, and Glen Matlock of the Sex Pistols, who will be joined on tour by singer Frank Carter.

On September 3, on his 70th birthday, Jones made a post on Instagram. In it, he briefly referenced his health, but also shared his thoughts on his milestone birthday.
“’70s was the best decade, musically, artistically, originality, punk, disco prog rock, glam rock, proper songwriting best sounding records even the weather is best in the 70s,” he wrote in the caption. “Hopefully, I won’t be out of action for too long onward and upward.”
