Dionne Warwick, who is 84 years old, is one of the most revered singers of all time. This is due to hits like “Walk On By” and her notable presence on social media. Recently, the beloved songstress had to cancel a performance. Now, she’s announced that she had an emergency surgery on her leg.
Warwick took to X, formerly known as Twitter, on September 4. She said, “As most of you may know, I’ve had to cancel a few shows due to emergency leg surgery. I’m doing okay, do not worry! However, I need some show/movie recommendations while on the mend. Not Emily in Paris. Love you all.”
So far, more than 38,000 people have “liked” Warwick’s post on the platform. Many fans have also given her show recommendations, while some took umbrage at her not wanting to watch “Emily in Paris.” She responded to someone being shocked she didn’t want to watch the series and said, “I have no interest, and her work visa has definitely expired by now…”
She Was Supposed to Perform at the New York State Fair
Warwick, like many of the great singers of her generation, remains in high demand. Of course, Dionne’s star remains in high regard, partly due to her presence on social media. The beloved singer was recently supposed to appear at the New York State Fair.
According to Local SYR, she was supposed to have a concert at the fair on September 1, which was the last day of the event. However, due to her cancellation, which we now know was due to an injury, country duo LoCash filled in for her.
Of course, seeing a singer like Warwick is at the top of many music fans’ lists, but health always comes first. However, this isn’t the only show Warwick has had to cancel. She was set to appear at the Soul Town Festival on September 6.
She said on Facebook, “I will no longer be able to perform at the Soul Town Festival on Saturday, September 6, as I am currently recovering from emergency surgery on my leg. More info can be found in my story. Luv you all.”

Warwick has been a staple in the music industry since 1962’s “Don’t Make Me Over.” In total, she has amassed numerous Billboard hits throughout her storied career. More recently, she has even been featured on SNL with Ego Nwodim portraying her.
According to Billboard, she appeared on the show in November 2021. Hopefully, she makes a speedy recovery.
