Fans of the Atlanta-based rock band Manchester Orchestra are mourning the loss of drummer Tim Very, who passed away at age 42. The indie group is best known for songs such as “The Gold,” “The Silence,” and “I Know How to Speak.” Now, fans are paying tribute to his legacy.
The band announced the sad news of Very’s passing on its official Instagram account. They began, “The entire Manchester Orchestra family has been devastated by the sudden passing of our brother, Timothy Very. The most beloved human being any of us were lucky enough to know in this life. We’ve all been dreading sharing this news as we are all still in absolute disbelief.”
The post continued, “Tim was instantly likable and interacted with everyone he met with kindness and warmth. His laugh was infectious, and he immediately made people feel invited and encouraged. His humor and energy were the very foundation that held together the entire MO universe. Strangers quickly became friends and friends became family.”
They concluded, “We love you, Tim, thank you for loving us. You are a force of positivity that will be a constant presence in the rest of our days.”
Fans Are Paying Tribute To Tim Very’s Legacy

One person said on Instagram, “Always felt so much warmth radiating off him. Love you guys, I’m so so sorry.”
Another person wrote, “I’m gutted by this news. So much love to his family and the entire MO family.” A different fan stated, “My heart is broken for you guys and his family. Absolutely gutted for everyone in his orbit. He was so much fun to watch and I loved him on the podcasts too. Big hugs and love from Minnesota.”
Someone else said, “Oh, I’m literally watching one of your performances right now and playing along to Tim’s powerful, beautiful, driven, and dynamic drumming. I’m so sorry for your loss.”
Finally, another fan wrote, “Tim forever. Love you all so much.”
His Legacy Will Live On
According to Rolling Stone, Very joined Manchester Orchestra in 2011 and contributed to the band’s three most recent albums. They include “Cope” from 2014, “A Black Mile to the Surface” from 2017, and “The Million Masks of God” from 2021.
Manchester Orchestra’s most recent body of work came in 2023 with the extended play,
The Valley of Vision.” He will be missed, but his legacy will live on forever.
