While Lizzo is known for entertaining her fans while on stage, she also delights her social media followers by sharing glimpses at both her professional and personal life. That includes a day she recently spent at the beach that boasted enviable sunshine, a blue sky and an endless stretch of sand, as well as the star in a chic body-baring swimsuit and even a marriage proposal!
Lizzo’s Beach Day Was Filled with Sunshine and Romance
If you happened to miss it, Lizzo took to Instagram on Sunday, August 30, to share a post filled with photos and videos that gave her followers a look at how she’s enjoying a bit of time off. That includes various shots of her wearing a sleek brown swimsuit that is cut into a deep V in the front and open on both sides. The piece also features ties that pull it in at strategic spots which results in fashionable ruching. In some of the images, the star can be seen leaning back while the sun shines down on her, and in others she lays out flat and also poses.
On top of that, Lizzo opted to slip on a knitted set overtop of her swimsuit, which included both a colorful top and bottom piece. That’s not to mention her sizable sunglasses and gorgeous hair.
If you keep flipping through the photos and videos, you’ll also spot a rather romantic scene. That’s because Lizzo was on the beach when a couple got engaged. During a clip that the star shared, a man can be seen getting down on one knee in front of a large heart-shaped, flower-covered arch. His lady love seems to be delighted by the proposal and it appears as if he slips the ring on her finger, which we assume means she said yes!
Lizzo Revealed Her Body Confidence Took Time
GettyIf it looks like Lizzo feels confident while wearing bold swimsuits, that’s because she definitely feels fabulous when she pops one on. In fact, back in September 2019, she opened up to Us Weekly about looking at her body in a positive light, and mentioned that it wasn’t something she’s always been able to do. She explained, “It definitely comes with time. I wasn’t really given the opportunities or the privileges to feel like a sex symbol when I was growing up. I was a fat black girl in Houston and I didn’t see myself in magazines.”
When she was asked about when things changed, she told Us, “I was like, ‘You know what…? I want to be a sex symbol!’ I said that to myself when I was, like, 22, 23. And I really started to embrace the sexiness about me, not just the cuteness or the beauty. I started to work on it more and more, and I realized the vulnerability that I show when I’m naked is my greatest strength.”
She also shared some advice for anyone who doesn’t feel confident in their own bodies. After acknowledging that “self-love and self-confidence is a personal journey,” she noted, “But luckily, now we have so many people you can see yourself in. … You have to see yourself, find yourself somewhere out there. You’ve got to go on that journey — and I believe in you.”
