Netflix released the official trailer for “Bridgerton” Season 4, Part 1 on Christmas Day, offering fans their first extended look at the next chapter of the hit period drama. The footage signals a shift in focus to Benedict Bridgerton, the family’s artistic second son, and sets up a romance rooted in secrecy, class divides, and fairy-tale longing.
The trailer debuted during a holiday NFL broadcast and immediately sparked online conversation, as viewers caught sight of lavish masquerade scenes, whispered intrigue, and the introduction of a mysterious woman dressed in silver. Season 4 marks the first time the series centers on Benedict’s love story after previous seasons followed Daphne, Anthony, and Colin Bridgerton.
A Masked Meeting Changes Everything
At the heart of the trailer is a masked ball hosted by Lady Violet Bridgerton, where Benedict, played by Luke Thompson, encounters a woman who captivates him instantly. Their brief meeting unfolds in stolen glances and quiet conversations before she disappears into the night, leaving Benedict determined to find her again.
Netflix later identifies the woman as Sophie Baek, portrayed by Yerin Ha. Sophie works as a maid and disguises herself to attend the ball, allowing her a fleeting escape from the rigid social hierarchy of the Ton. According to Netflix’s Tudum, the season draws inspiration from Julia Quinn’s novel “An Offer From a Gentleman,” which reimagines the Cinderella story through a Regency-era lens.
Unlike traditional fairy tales, Sophie faces lasting consequences once the magic ends. The trailer hints at the challenges she encounters as Benedict searches for her without knowing her true identity or social standing.
Familiar Voices and Expanding Storylines
Julie Andrews returns as the voice of Lady Whistledown, whose narration frames the trailer with commentary on romance, reputation, and society’s watchful eye. Her voiceover suggests that the season will explore how love collides with expectation, particularly when desire crosses class boundaries.
The trailer also offers brief glimpses of returning characters, including Penelope Featherington, Eloise Bridgerton, Colin Bridgerton, and Francesca Bridgerton. While Benedict’s storyline anchors the season, Netflix signals that parallel arcs will continue to shape the wider Bridgerton universe.
According to People, Season 4 will unfold across eight episodes split into two parts. Netflix plans to release Part 1 on Jan. 29, 2026, followed by Part 2 on Feb. 26, 2026.
A Familiar Fantasy With Modern Stakes
Visually, the trailer leans into the series’ signature aesthetic, featuring ornate costumes, candlelit ballrooms, and sweeping orchestral pop covers. Yet the emotional tone suggests a more introspective journey for Benedict, who has long resisted the expectations placed on him as a Bridgerton.
With its blend of fantasy, romance, and social commentary, the Season 4 trailer positions “Bridgerton” to revisit a classic fairy tale while grounding it in emotional realism. As Benedict searches for the woman who vanished at midnight, the series asks whether love can survive once the masks come off.
If “Bridgerton” has proven anything so far, it is that even in a world bound by rules, desire always finds a way to break them.

This is the one that I draw the line at. I read the books and Sophie (Beckett) is the illegitimate daughter of the Earl. She has blond hair and green eyes like her father and looks like the paternal side of her family. She is not the maid but treated poorly by her stepmother especially after her father passes when she was 14. I don’t agree with changing the books so much to fit this current narrative. It is no longer the book and story anymore and basically fanfiction at that point.
