Netflix has released the first official trailer for “Wake Up Dead Man,” the third installation in Rian Johnson’s “Knives Out” mystery series. The movie stars “James Bond” actor Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc, a detective who is returning for “his most dangerous case yet” per the film’s IMDB description. Josh O’Connor takes on the film’s other lead role as Jud Duplenticy, a reverend who is shown bloody-handed while being accused of murder in the exciting new trailer for “Wake Up Dead Man.”
O’Connor recently starred in indie-drama “The Mastermind” and received critical acclaim for his performance in last year’s tennis romance “Challengers.” Johnson’s “Wake Up Dead Man” may be his largest role yet as the original “Knives Out” was one of the highest grossing films of 2019 and its sequel boasted similarly impressive numbers.
‘Wake Up Dead Man’ Features an Impressive Cast
“Wake Up Dead Man” features a star-studded cast including Mila Kunis as a police officer, Kerry Washington as a lawyer and Josh Brolin as a monsignor who is found dead, thus setting into place the movie’s central mystery. Other featured names include Andrew Scott, Jeremy Renner and Cailee Spaeny. Both “Knives Out” and “Glass Onion” also boasted major A-listers like Chris Evans and seasoned industry members like Edward Norton.
If this film is similar to its predecessors, we can expect to see these characters face betrayal, revenge and confusion in the wake of its mysterious central murder.
Daniel Craig Will Reprise His Role as Benoit Blanc
Getty“I’m incapable of not solving a crime,” jokes Craig as Benoit Blanc, the main character around which the “Knives Out” universe orbits. Craig is fantastic in the role, winning over audiences as the charming investigator. The detective has solved a number of murders throughout the previous films, but this case is promised to be the “darkest” yet.
“Wake Up Dead Man” will follow Blanc as he tries to solve a mystery that even he has yet to experience. In the trailer, he states that the monsignor’s death is “a perfectly impossible crime” as he speaks to Kunis’ cop character.
“Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery” will release in select theaters on November 26 and be available to stream on Netflix on December 12.
