Malin Akerman Teases ‘The Hunting Wives’ Season 2 Premiere Date and Juicy New Storylines

“The Hunting Wives” is officially coming back — and much sooner than fans expected. Star Malin Akerman revealed that season 2 of the hit Netflix series will premiere next summer.

The actress, who plays Margo, shared the news during an interview on October 30, confirming that production is about to ramp up again in just a matter of days.

“We’re going back to work in a week and a half,” Akerman said. “We heard the audience and the fans and we’re bringing it to you next summer.”

Malin Akerman Confirms ‘The Hunting Wives’ Season 2 Release Window

Despite the fast turnaround, Akerman admitted she hasn’t yet read any scripts for the upcoming season. “Usually, you get a five-month writers’ room,” she explained to Extra, “but because it was such a wild success this summer, Netflix has said, ‘We need a summer release. We’re going to go back to work in November. You get a month and a half writers’ room.’ So, they’re writing feverishly.”

The actress, 47, said she’s been teased with snippets of what’s to come — and fans have a lot to look forward to. “I’ve been in and heard some of the stories, and I think we’re getting a script soon,” she told Extra. “It’s ‘The Hunting Wives.’ That’s what I asked, too, in the writers’ room. I was like, ‘How are you going to top this?’ But I’m telling you, the fans will not be disappointed.”

Season 2 of ‘The Hunting Wives’ Will Raise the Stakes

Following the show’s breakout success this summer, Akerman told Us Weekly that season 2 will be even bigger and bolder. “Brittany [Snow] and I have become really great friends, and I can definitely, definitely say that season 2 will exceed everyone’s expectations,” she teased. “I didn’t know how they were going to top season 1, but I think we’ve got a great writers’ room.”

Akerman added that her character’s story will go in unexpected directions. “It’s going to just blow you away,” she promised. “Get ready.”

According to Netflix’s official synopsis, season 2 picks up with Sophie (played by Snow) and Margo “on the outs.” However, “old secrets and new foes force them back together. As they play their dangerous games, the question arises: Are they the hunters or the hunted?”

“The Hunting Wives,” based on May Cobb’s novel of the same name, debuted in July and quickly became one of Netflix’s most talked-about series.

Akerman previously told Us Weekly that changes from the book have kept the series exciting — including one major difference: Margo lives. “[Creator] Rebecca [Cutter] and May Cobb have a really great relationship,” Akerman explained. “May was kind of like, ‘Go for it.’ She was really elated to see her characters come to life and loved the direction the show took.”
