Josh Hartnett was involved in a car accident that caused “significant damage” while filming a new Netfix series, according to CBC Lite. On Thursday, September 25, the star was a passenger in an SVU that crashed with a Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) patrol vehicle in St. John’s, Newfoundland, on the East coast of Canada. In an update via USA Today, Hartnett is back to work despite all of the damage.
Hartnett and a 59-year-old man who was also in the SVU, were both sent to the hospital with minor injuries, per the police. The officer that was in the other vehicle also went to the hospital, but merely as a precaution.
According to a press release from the RNC which came out on September 25, “There was significant damage to both of the vehicles involved.”
Happening just before 1 a.m., Hartnett was apparently on his way home from the set of his latest project, according to a source that spoke to the CBC.
Harnett Is Out of the Hospital
GettyFortunately, the injuries Hartnett suffered during the car accident were only minor and he has since been released from the hospital, according to a representative who spoke to Page Six. Beyond that, he’s already back to work on his latest production.
As for the case surrounding the car crash, it “is currently under investigation.”
The RNC says that “RNC collision analysts are seeking any witnesses or video footage (CCTV, dash-camera, cell phone) from the area in the lead up to, or immediately following the collision.”
Hartnett Is Filming a Netflix Sea Monster Series
GettyAlthough Hartnett’s time in Canada may now involve a little healing, he happens to be there for work. The star is currently filming a Netflix series that, at the moment, is merely called Untitled Netflix Newfoundland Series, according to CBC Lite.
“There’s something in the water off the coast of Newfoundland, and Josh Hartnett is on its trail,” Netflix’s Tudum explains. “In a new six-episode limited series event from creator Jesse McKeown (a writer on The Umbrella Academy and 19-2), a small Canadian town is the target of a mysterious sea creature — and the terrorized residents will have to find the strength to fight back. Leading the pack will be Hartnett (Trap, Oppenheimer, The Virgin Suicides).”
Beyond that, Netflix Canada content directors Danielle Woodrow and Tara Woodbury said, “Jesse’s bold, ambitious vision offers thrills galore, with the heart of a family drama. We can’t wait to transport our members to coastal Newfoundland with this timely story about community, resilience and adaptability.”
