Spacey sat down for a rare interview with The Telegraph, in which he explained his current housing and financial situation.

Despite his current situation, the “House of Cards” alum isn’t letting it define him as he works to revive his career. .

“We are in touch with some extremely powerful people who want to put me back to work,” he told the outlet. “And that will happen in its right time. But I will also say what I think the industry seems to be waiting for is to be given permission – by someone who is in some position of enormous respect and authority.”

He went on to say that one call from legendary directors such as Martin Scorsese or Quentin Tarantino would be all it took for the rest of Hollywood to let him back in.

“I will be incredibly honoured and delighted when that level of talent picks up the phone.”

Kevin Spacey Was Ousted From Hollywood in 2017

The “Horrible Bosses” star was arguably at the top of his career in 2017, bringing in a reported $500,000 per episode of his Netflix series. But that all changed when multiple men came forward accusing the Academy Award winner of sexual abuse.

While he was acquitted on all charges by 2023, Spacey’s career has yet to recover.

“Why was I such a good villain, why did I fit so well into a narrative that was out there? And some of those were important questions for me to ask, to take accountability for where I made mistakes,” he told The Telegraph. “I suppose when I look back, I wish I had spoken out sooner and allowed my voice to be heard more.”

Spacey continued, “Even though I tried not to be a jerk, I think that to some degree I always was a jerk, because people were stopping and I always had somewhere to go, and I think I was always putting people in lanes – he wants this, she wants that, something from me. But now my relationship with fame is very much changed.”
