Alicia Silverstone Shares Breathtaking Throwback Photo of Herself at 15

Clueless” star Alicia Silverstone, 49, got fans feeling nostalgic when she posted a vibrant throwback snap of her teenage self.

The young star was three years away from her role as Cher Horowitz that catapulted her to ’90s teen idol status. But her career beginnings weren’t all glitz and glam. An old letter she wrote to a friend revealed a harsh side of the movie business.

Alicia Silverstone’s Throwback Letter to a Friend Holds a Dark Truth

In her throwback post, Silverstone shared a simultaneously hilarious and heartbreaking letter she had written to a childhood friend. In the note, she discusses the 1993 role she would eventually win in “Crush,” where she played the obsessive teen in love with her family’s older tenant.

The letter reads:

“Dear Sabrina,

Hello! This is just a short note. I hope you are doing well!? You sounded so sweet on my machine. You are so lucky the stain on your shorts came out because I was going to have to kill you! Yes I got a movie but it is only 95% sure (or something like that). They are in negotiations right now. They want me there on Monday.”

Silverstone then talks about seeing another friend, writing, “Lindsay just visited. It was nice. Her boyfriend is kinda quiet.” She then revealed that she was already facing Hollywood pressure over her looks, saying, “The movie people want me to 5-10 pounds. Ok, laugh now! Isn’t that such a joke. I can’t lose weight, that’s like asking me to kill myself.”

The rising star finished up her letter, “Please call again before Monday. I would love to hear you again. I am going to dance class now so I will talk to you later. Love ya babe, Alicia Silverstone.”

After signing off, she added, “I hoe you like the pictures! You look SO cute!”

The actress reflected, “15 year old me was funny. And trying to survive.”

Film director Brett Gursky replied to Silverstone’s weight revelation, saying, “Glad you knew back then just how ridiculous that was.”
