Bryan Cranston is once again an Emmy winner. The actor, 69, took home Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series at the 77th Creative Arts Emmys on September 6 for his role on Apple TV+’s “The Studio.” Presenter Gwendoline Christie accepted the award on his behalf, as reported by People.
Cranston played Griffin Mill, the CEO of Continental Studios, in the first season.
His storyline included giving Seth Rogenโs character a shot at running the studio and later delivering one of the seasonโs funniest moments when Griffin indulged in mushroom chocolates.
Star-Studded Competition in the Category
The Guest Actor category was packed with heavyweights. Jon Bernthal was nominated for his role on FXโs “The Bear,” while “The Studio” earned nods for Dave Franco, Ron Howard, Anthony Mackie, and Martin Scorsese.
Bernthal, 48, was recognized for his moving performance in the episode “Napkins.” Franco, 40, made waves for his self-deprecating cameo. Howard, 71, played himself in a storyline about creative control. Mackie earned his first Emmy nod, while Scorsese, 82, scored his first acting nomination.
Cranstonโs Legacy at the Emmys
This marks Cranstonโs 16th Emmy nomination. He has already won four times for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his portrayal of Walter White on “Breaking Bad.” He also picked up two Emmys as a producer of the hit AMC drama.
Despite his own accolades, Cranston recently said he is just as proud of his daughter Taylor Deardenโs work on the series “The Pitt,” which earned its own Emmy recognition this year.
Cranstonโs Award-Winning Career Across Stage & Screen
Cranston is an Academy Award nominee and the winner of multiple top honors, including Emmys, SAG, Tony, and Olivier Awards.
He made his Broadway debut as President Lyndon B. Johnson in “All the Way,” a role that earned him a Tony Award, and later starred in Ivo Van Hoveโs “Network,” winning both an Olivier and another Tony.
Cranston remains most recognized for his Emmy-winning performance as Walter White in “Breaking Bad,” as well as his acclaimed turn in “Your Honor,” which he also executive-produced.
On the film side, he earned an Academy Award and BAFTA nomination for “Trumbo.”
Apart from starring in Apple TV+โs comedy “The Studio” from Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, he also starred in Wes Andersonโs “The Phoenician Scheme”.
Also, he starred in “Everythingโs Going to Be Great” alongside Allison Janney.
His upcoming projects include the dark comedy “Chili Finger” with John Goodman and Judy Greer. He is also set to return to one of his most beloved roles in the “Malcolm in the Middle” revival for Disney+.
A Big Weekend for Televisionโs Best
The 2025 Creative Arts Emmys are being held in Los Angeles across Sept. 6 and 7, with the whole ceremony airing Sept. 13 on FXX. The win solidifies Cranstonโs place as one of the most celebrated television actors of his generation while spotlighting the breakout success of “The Studio.”
