‘Steel Magnolias’ Co-Star Sally Field, 79, Pays Tribute to ‘Angel’ Dolly Parton

Sally Field is among the millions of us mourning the devastating loss of Dolly Parton today. She made a touching post on her social media profiles, describing the loss of Dolly as the equivalent of losing an angel in your life.

What Did Sally Field Say?

“Mrs. Doubtfire” actress Sally posted a single photo to her Instagram showing her, a young Dolly and friends smiling and laughing at what appears to be a dance venue. Penned alongside the picture, Sally gushed about cherishing every moment she shared with the late star.

Her tribute read: “If there are truly angels on earth, then we have just lost one. Dolly Parton. There will never be another. I adored her with all my heart and will always cherish our time together. Forever. Rest in peace beautiful Dolly.”

Sally starred alongside Dolly in the rom-com film “Steel Magnolias” that came out in 1989. The film followed the bond between six young women who love in a small town in Louisiana, supporting each other through life’s ups and downs. Though there are many giggle-worthy moments along the way, making the film an adored classic.

Dolly’s Family Share She Has Passed Away

Dolly Parton’s family posted a video message to her social media profiles today announcing that she had passed away. Bryan Seaver read out the tragic news, speaking to a camera. He shared: “Hey everyone, my name is Bryan Seaver, son of Cassie Parton, and I am representing the Parton and Owens family today announcing the passing of my aunt Dolly Rebecca Parton Dean.

“Sister, sis, aunt, granny to one generation, and Gigi to the next. This video announcement is something Dolly asked of me years ago before I fully absorbed it as a future reality. As her head of security for more than two decades, a role my father Larry held before me, I have imagined the heaviness of this moment but haven’t truly felt it until now. It is an honor, an honor that is mixed with absolute pride and great sadness. But sadness lies with us, but not with Dolly.

“Dolly has lived in the light […] met by Carl, her parents, and countless others who have watched her and longed for her to meet them in the heavens. […] Dolly also opened doors for generations of singers, songwriters, musicians and dreamers from every walk of life , and across every continent. By her example, we believed that anything was possible.

“She never saw a door she couldn’t open, and the doors she opened made and changed history. My family and I have shared a lifetime of beautiful memories with Dolly, but so have you. She has always been on your television, your record player, your CD, and your phone playlist becoming an extended part of your family.”

Rest in peace to Dolly Parton and best wishes to her loved ones. You will always be incredibly loved here on Earth and the light of your amazing legacy is something that will never be dimmed.

  1. This angel on earth has done more than her share here. We will miss her smile, her voice and cheerful disposition. Your time has been well spent here and we have learned from your example. Enjoy your reunion with your family who are waiting for you. God speed.
