Hannah Berner is heading back to reality television, more than five years after closing the door on “Summer House.”
The comedian revealed that she will host the upcoming Paramount+ dating series “Making Love,” marking an unexpected return to the genre that first introduced her to Bravo fans.
Berner announced the career move during the Aug. 25 episode of her “Giggly Squad” podcast with Paige DeSorbo, sharing that viewers can expect to see her in a very different position this time around.
“Yes, I’m hosting a dating reality show called ‘Making Love.’ I’m entering my matchmaker era,” Berner said.
Rather than having cameras document her own life, Berner will be the one helping a group of singles navigate theirs. And after years away from reality TV, she said it took the right opportunity to convince her to come back.

Berner’s new series comes from the team behind two of reality TV’s biggest relationship franchises, “Love Is Blind” and “Married at First Sight.”
That pedigree caught her attention.
“I’m not doing a dating reality show unless it’s like the creme de la creme,” Berner joked on “Giggly Squad.”
The comedian admitted that she initially wondered whether she might get fired from the project, but the experience ultimately gave her an opportunity to approach reality television from an entirely new perspective.
“I wanted to wait for the perfect opportunity to get involved as a host,” she explained. “I love love. I am a romantic.”
“Making Love” will put that sentiment to the test.
The premise asks singles to describe their ultimate fantasy partner before the show finds someone who fits that description. There’s a catch, however: their supposed perfect match also gets to create a fantasy partner. The experiment will explore whether getting exactly what someone thinks they want is actually enough to create a lasting connection.
Berner said she became genuinely invested in the contestants along the way, watching some relationships flourish while others ended in heartbreak.
She wasn’t afraid to intervene when necessary, either.
“Some of these men I whipped into shape,” Berner teased, comparing her approach to that of a substitute teacher.
Berner called the experience “game-changing” and “epic.”

For longtime Bravo viewers, Making Love represents a full-circle moment for Berner.
She joined “Summer House” during Season 3 and spent three seasons on the series before announcing her departure in 2021 following Season 5.
Berner’s career has changed considerably in the years since.
She and DeSorbo have turned “Giggly Squad” into a hugely popular podcast and touring brand, while Berner has built a successful stand-up comedy career. Her Netflix comedy special, “We Ride at Dawn,” premiered in 2024.
Now she’s stepping back in front of reality TV cameras without putting her own relationship under the microscope.
Berner is married to fellow comedian Des Bishop. The pair tied the knot in 2022 after first connecting in 2020.
Her new hosting gig also comes as DeSorbo continues her own post-“Summer House” chapter after announcing her departure from the Bravo series in 2025.
This time around, however, Berner won’t be dealing with Hamptons house drama. She’ll be trying to determine whether other people have actually figured out what they want in a partner.
“Making Love” is expected to premiere on Paramount+ in early 2027.
