‘The Dutton Ranch’: Here’s Everything We Know About Beth And Rip’s ‘Yellowstone’ Spinoff So Far

“Yellowstone” may have ended its five-season run on Paramount Network in January, but the Dutton family’s story isn’t far from over. A new spinoff centered on Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) is officially in the works, giving fans a look at what’s next for the couple after the events of the series finale.

The series, with the working title of “The Dutton Ranch,” is one of several upcoming spinoffs from creator Taylor Sheridan. A release date hasn’t been announced, but early details are already giving a clearer picture of what’s ahead for Beth, Rip, and the Dutton legacy.

Beth and Rip Lead ‘The Dutton Ranch’ Story

According to the official logline, the series picks up after the “Yellowstone” finale. Beth and Rip are “grateful for the peace they sought, fought, and nearly died for with their 7,000-acre Dutton Ranch.” The couple faces “tough times and stiff competition,” doing whatever it takes to survive while raising Carter, played by Finn Little, to become the man he’s meant to be.

Reilly and Hauser will reprise their roles as Beth and Rip. Reilly previously shared that she’s eager to continue exploring Beth’s evolution.

“I am definitely interested in Beth, and who she is after some things have happened,” Reilly said in a November 2024 interview with Town & Country. “Who is she in peace? As an actor you’re like, ‘Ooh, let me at that.’ Wouldn’t it be fun to watch Beth go to therapy?”

That same month, she told The Hollywood Reporter that she trusts Sheridan’s creative direction for Beth’s future. “I trust him with wherever he takes her; whether we’re leaving her where we’ve left her, or we’re going to find her somewhere else, I trust him.”

New Faces Join the ‘Yellowstone’ Spinoff

Ed Harris is the latest star to join the cast of “The Dutton Ranch.” The show takes place after Beth and Rip move to a new ranch in Montana during the “Yellowstone” finale, which aired in December 2024.

The Paramount+ series will also star legendary Annette Bening. The spinoff will follow Beth and Rip as they settle into a new chapter of their lives, figuring out how to navigate their surroundings while protecting their legacy and shaping the future of the Dutton family.

“The Dutton Ranch” is one piece of Taylor Sheridan’s growing “Yellowstone” universe.

In addition to this spinoff, Sheridan is expanding the franchise to CBS for the first time with “Y: Marshals,” starring Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton, and “The Madison,” which stars Michelle Pfeiffer.

He’s also behind the prequels “1883” and “1923,” as well as other hit series like “Tulsa King” and “Landman.”
