Francis Ford Coppola Recently Had Heart Surgery In Rome

While in Italy for a screening of his film “Megalopolis” at the Magna Graecia Film Festival earlier this month, Coppola suffered a heart arrhythmia before a scheduled procedure, the Mirror reported on August 5.

He was deemed well enough to undergo surgery and had the procedure.

“Mr. Coppola went in for a scheduled update procedure with acclaimed Dr. Andrea Natale, his doctor of over 30 years, and is resting nicely. All is well, and he appreciates everyone’s concern,” a source told People at the time.

There was fear that this was a more serious situation, but his rep ended those rumors.

“There was not an emergency,” they told The Guardian.. “He went to the hospital in a car.”
