Robert Duvall’s Family Released An Emotional Statement
Duvall’s wife, Luciana Pedraza, confirmed his passing in a statement posted to Facebook on February 16. She said in the emotional statement, “Yesterday we said goodbye to my beloved husband, cherished friend, and one of the greatest actors of our time. Bob passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by love and comfort.
To the world, he was an Academy Award-winning actor, a director, a storyteller. To me, he was simply everything. His passion for his craft was matched only by his deep love for characters, a great meal, and holding court. For each of his many roles, Bob gave everything to his characters and to the truth of the human spirit they represented.”
Pedraza concluded, “In doing so, he leaves something lasting and unforgettable to us all. Thank you for the years of support you showed Bob and for giving us this time and privacy to celebrate the memories he leaves behind.”
According to PEOPLE, Duvall and Pedraza began dating in 1996. They then married in 2005. Padraza was the Hollywood legend’s fourth wife.
More Tributes Are Pouring In
Per IMDb, Duvall appeared in well over 150 roles throughout his decades-long career. Some of his most notable roles include “The Godfather,” “Tender Mercies,” “Apocalypse Now,” “The Judge,” and many others.
Now, following his passing, many are flocking to social media to pay tribute to his legacy. Stephen King quoted “Apocalypse Now,” saying, “I love the smell of napalm in the morning! RIP Robert Duvall.”
A fan encouraged others to seek some of Duvall’s lesser-known films. They said, “With Robert Duvall’s passing today, we’re going to see a lot of references to The Godfather. And, understood. But please get into his other films.” They then suggested “The Paper” from 1994. The Warner Bros. Entertainment official X account also highlighted the actor.
Duvall will be missed, but his legacy will live on forever.
