As news of actor Eric Dane’s tragic passing begins to permeate through Hollywood, a plethora of his former co-stars have started to pay tribute to the star — one of whom worked alongside him in one of his final movies.
Martin Lawrence starred with Dane in the 2024 buddy cop action sequel “Bad Boys: Ride or Die.” Lawrence, of course, reprised his role as Miami police detective Marcus Burnett in the franchise’s fourth installment, while Dane played James McGrath in the film. McGrath is a former U.S. Army Ranger Staff Sergeant turned criminal after being captured and tortured by a criminal cartel.
Dane sadly passed away at the age of 53 on February 19 after a short but brave battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
Lawrence, 60, paid tribute to him on social media.

Martin Lawrence took to his Instagram account to share a short but heartfelt tribute to Eric Dane with his 11.1 million followers.
The post included two images of Lawrence and Dane together on the set of “Bad Boys: Ride or Die.” In the first picture, the pair are chatting. In the second, Lawrence is resting his hand on Dane’s upper arm, as if to give him reassurance about something.
Lawrence captioned his post, “My condolences go out to the family of @realericdane 🙏🏾 I can tell you firsthand — solid brotha, true professional, and brought that presence every single time. Much love! #ericdane #badboysfamilyforlife.”
Eric Dane seemingly left a positive impression on everyone he ever worked with and met. That says a lot about the man.
