The Federal Bureau of Investigation is on the hunt for details on the gun seen holstered to the suspect in the images uncovered from Nancy Guthrie’s doorbell camera.
“FBI agents have been to several gun stores in Tucson with a list of forty people and their photos — looking to see if any of them were in the store or purchased a weapon,” reporter Brian Entin shared via X on Monday, February 16..
Nancy Guthrie Disappearance Enters Week 3
The search for Nancy Guthrie continues into its third week with major developments continuing to come in daily.
Nearly two weeks after Guthrie’s son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni, was accused of being “the prime suspect” in the case, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos announced that the entire Guthrie family had officially been cleared.
“To be clear…the Guthrie family – to include all siblings and spouses – has been cleared as possible suspects in this case. The family has been nothing but cooperative and gracious and are victims in this case,” the department shared via X.
“To suggest otherwise is not only wrong, it is cruel. The Guthrie family are victims plain and simple…please, I’m begging you the media to honor your profession and report with some sense of compassion and professionalism,” the statement added.
What and Who Investigators Are Searching For
After footage was uncovered from Guthrie’s doorbell security camera showing a masked, armed man tampering with her camera, the FBI determined a suspect profile.
“The suspect is described as a male, approximately 5’9” – 5’10” tall, with an average build. In the video, he is wearing a black, 25-liter ‘Ozark Trail Hiker Pack’ backpack,” the agency announced.
It was later revealed that investigators believe the ski mask, Ozark backpack, and clothing items worn by the unidentified man were purchased at Walmart.
According to CBS News, the black Ozark Trail Hiker backpack seen in the Nest camera footage is sold exclusively at Walmart. The outlet reported that investigators have obtained purchase records for that specific backpack, for both in-store and online transactions.
“Today” host and Nancy Guthrie’s daughter, Savannah Guthrie, shared another public plea for her mom’s kidnappers to come forward.
“It’s been two weeks since our mom was taken, and I just wanted to come on and say that we still have hope,” she said in a video posted on Sunday, February 15. “I wanted to say to whoever has her or knows where she is that it’s never too late…to do the right thing.”
