Early in the investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, along with the FBI’s Phoenix Division, requested footage from her neighbors’ security cameras.
According to Guthrie’s Tucson, Arizona, neighbors, investigators were seeking information from January 11, weeks before the 84-year-old was taken from her home. Now, News Nation reporter Brian Entin revealed that detectives are honing in on another date.
Investigators Ask Nancy Guthrie Neighbors to Check Their Cameras
The FBI is asking Tucson residents to check their security systems for any unusual activity from January 24, according to Entin.
“In addition to January 11th, one of Nancy Guthrie’s neighbors tells me FBI agents are also especially interested in January 24th,” he shared via X on Monday, March 16. “That is 8 days before Guthrie went missing. The Saturday before. Agents are looking for video from both dates.”
The disappearance of Nancy Guthrie continues to leave friends, family, and investigators baffled.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos revealed in the days after she vanished that the 84-year-old mother of Savannah Guthrie was taken from her home against her will. She was likely harmed during her abduction as blood drops found on her front porch were traced back to Guthrie after DNA testing.
Nearly two weeks into the case, detectives were able to uncover previously inaccessible photos and videos from Guthrie’s front doorbell security camera. Because Guthrie did not have a subscription service attached to her camera, videos were difficult to access.
However, the unearthed footage showed a masked, armed man approach her front porch in the early morning hours of February 1. The unknown suspect is seen tampering with the camera with a gloved hand.
The footage led the FBI to release a description of the suspect as a “male, approximately 5’9” – 5’10” tall, with an average build. In the video, he is wearing a black, 25-liter ‘Ozark Trail Hiker Pack’ backpack.”
New Photos Unearthed of Suspect
ABC News reported on Saturday, March 14, that additional images of the suspect were uncovered on three other cameras from outside Guthrie’s home.
Sources told the outlet that the additional photos “were recovered in recent weeks from motion-activated cameras trained on the swimming pool, backyard and side yard.”
While there was no new video footage uncovered, “thumbnail images captured when the cameras were triggered by motion” were unearthed, ABC News explained. According to the source, no additional footage from the night of her abduction was found.
