Rob Reiner‘s kids are navigating a deep heartbreak after losing both their parents. In the weeks following the fatal stabbings of Rob and Michele Reiner, Romy and Jake Reiner have begun stepping back into their routines.
GettyAs they move through one of the most difficult periods of their lives, the siblings were recently seen in public for the first time since late December, easing back into familiar routines close to home. Their appearances come as their brother Nick Reiner prepares for his upcoming court proceedings.
Romy Reiner Spotted Running Errands in Malibu
Romy, who shared a close bond with her parents, was stepping out publicly for the first time in weeks.
According to photos obtained by The New York Post, Romy was seen on February 19 near the family’s Malibu home during a quiet outing. The images show her stopping by a dog groomer and a CVS while taking her dog along for the walk.
According to the photos, Romy opted for a relaxed look in a hoodie, brown sweatpants, and boots. She appeared composed during the brief outing.
Jake Reiner Returns to Coaching and Daily Life
Jake has also slowly begun returning to parts of his routine. The day after Romy’s outing, he was photographed in Los Angeles heading to coach baseball. Images obtained by Page Six show him arriving with a bat in hand, wearing sunglasses and a hat as he prepared to work with the team.
Days later, he was seen again in Los Angeles running errands with his girlfriend, Maria Gilfillan. According to photos obtained by TMZ, for the outing, he wore a blue USA hoodie with matching shorts, along with a baseball cap and sunglasses.
The recent sightings mark the first time the siblings have been seen publicly since late December, when they were photographed walking along the beach near their Malibu home, just weeks after their parents’ deaths on December 14, 2025.
Update on Nick Reiner’s Arraignment
GettyThe siblings’ public appearances come as Nick prepares for his arraignment on February 23.
As per the New York Times, Nick, 32, has entered a not guilty plea to two counts of first-degree murder tied to their parents’ deaths. Charges were filed within days of the incident. During a December 17 hearing, he waived his right to a speedy arraignment.
At a January 7 court date, attorney Alan Jackson stepped down from the case. Los Angeles County public defender Kimberly Greene later took over representation.
Nick has appeared in court wearing a brown jumpsuit and shackles. He arrived at the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center with a shaved head and facial hair.
Romy and Jake have not been present at the hearings. In a January 7 statement published by People, they said, “They have the utmost trust in the legal process and will not comment further on matters related to the legal proceedings.”
For now, Rob and Michele’s children appear focused on maintaining stability. They are leaning into routine, familiar surroundings to bounce back to their normal lives.
