Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce has been hit with a hefty fine after performing what was deemed to be an “obscene gesture” during his team’s recent game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Taylor Swift’s fiancé, 35, is now $14,491 light after celebrating a 23-yard run in a manner NFL officials have since determined to be inappropriate. However, given the couple’s combined net worth of around $1.67 billion (per Forbes), he’s probably not complaining too hard — and it was all in good fun.
Kelce Appeared to ‘Juggle’ Certain Parts of His Body
Kelce’s celebration involving a mime in which he appeared to juggle his own testicles. The action was a means of humorously taunting the opposition in the game on Sunday, September 14, at Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City, Missouri.
As reported on NBC News, the incident had initially been missed by the game’s referees, but it was inevitably caught on camera and shared widely on the internet and social media. At that point, a fine became unavoidable.
The beginning of the 2025 NFL season has been rough on Kelce and his team. During the game against the Eagles, the tight end was captured telling his teammates, “I’m sick of this” (followed by a curse word) before the live broadcast on Fox went to a commercial break.
The Chiefs ultimately lost the game 20-17, making the gesture a little hollow in hindsight, and leaving the team 0-2 — their worst start since the 2014 campaign. The loss was, in part, blamed on a mistake Kelce made during the game’s fourth quarter. Kelce fumbled a pass from quarterback Patrick Mahomes, which allowed safety Andrew Mukuba to intercept the ball, and ultimately resulted in a touchdown that put the Eagles 20-10 up.
The Chiefs Have Since Got Back on Track
Getty.Kelce’s irritation over the Chiefs’ poor start, the part his mistake played in it, and his irritating financial punishment have been somewhat appeased since they all happened.
On Sunday, September 21, at MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, New Jersey, the Chiefs defeated the New York Giants 22-9. The victory meant Kelce’s team avoided starting a season with a 0–3 record for the first time since 2011.
The Kansas City Chiefs are, however, currently lagging behind in 4th place in the AFC West division, with the Los Angeles Chargers, the Las Vegas Raiders, and the Denver Broncos all placed above them — and that’s something Kelce and his teammates will want to rectify as soon as possible, starting on Sunday, September 28, at Arrowhead Stadium against the Baltimore Ravens.
