The conversation around a potential reboot of “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” is picking up momentum, but Dolores Catania is signaling that fans may be getting ahead of themselves.
As speculation builds around Bravo testing a new group of women, Catania addressed the situation directly and made it clear that early casting activity does not mean a new era of RHONJ is locked in.
“You did test film with some potential housewives, yes?” Jennifer Aydin asked during an appearance on her TV Gold podcast.
Catania didn’t hesitate.
“Test filming is not ‘go.’ You’re so far from being on camera,” she said.
It’s a short answer, but it cuts through much of the noise surrounding the reboot chatter. While reports and fan speculation have pointed to test shoots as a sign that Bravo is moving forward with a new cast, Catania’s response suggests the network is still very much in the evaluation phase.
Dolores Catania Pushes Back on Reboot Assumptions
GettyThe idea of RHONJ starting over with a new lineup has gained traction in recent weeks, fueled by reports of test filming and behind-the-scenes casting activity.
Catania’s comments challenge that narrative.
In reality television, test shoots are often used to assess chemistry, personality, and how potential cast members translate on camera. They are part of the process, not the final decision.
By emphasizing how far removed test filming is from actual production, Catania is effectively lowering expectations around how imminent any reboot might be.
Her tone also suggests a level of skepticism about whether what is being tested will ultimately make it to air.
Jennifer Aydin Highlights Ongoing Uncertainty
Aydin’s comments during the same conversation further reinforce that nothing has been finalized.
“So who knows if they’re going to keep some and then add new ones, or reboot totally,” she said.
That uncertainty is key.
Rather than pointing to a clear direction, it paints a picture of a franchise still in flux. Bravo appears to be exploring multiple options, from partial cast changes to a more dramatic reset, without committing publicly to any one path.
What This Means for RHONJ
RHONJ remains one of Bravo’s most established franchises, with years of history tied to its core cast, including Teresa Giudice.
Any decision to significantly alter the cast comes with real stakes, both for the network and for longtime viewers.
That’s why Catania’s comments matter.
Instead of feeding into speculation, she is grounding the conversation in reality. Test filming is happening, but that does not mean a new cast is set. It does not mean a reboot is confirmed. And it certainly does not mean the current version of RHONJ is finished.
For now, the future of the show remains open. And based on what Catania is saying, it may stay that way longer than fans expect.

Please Reboot all new cast. We are all so tired of Teresa and her fighting with all on the show. We need new blood for the The Housewifes of New Jersey Please Brovo we want new blood. Put Teresa on the shelve for good and the whole bunch. It’s time for new faces with new problems. Just like Vanderpump Rules. We needed all new faces for the change. And at first we didn’t like the new crew but after a few showes we were hooked wit the new bunch of crazies. So get rid of All of NJ people. Let them figure their lives our not on TV anymore. Cause it was the same old fights and the same old Teresa fighting with everybody. She got to vicious with everybody. We don’t want to see grown ladies fight on TV anymore. We want younger shows like SOUTHERN CHARM AND SOUTHERN HOSPITIALY
PLEASE BROVO give us the 30 and 40 years olds. Nit the old ladies who’s children want their own shows. They are to young to keep the audience. More shows like SOUTHERN CHARM. NOBODY 50 OR OVER…PERIOD
