For weeks, country superstar Luke Bryan has been looking forward to the release of his newest single, “Signs,” on August 7, 2026. But rather than celebrating his new release with two concerts in Washington state this weekend, the “American Idol” judge had to postpone the shows until the fall.
Bryan posted a selfie video to social media, announcing that he couldn’t move forward with his Friday and Saturday night concerts. He explained that wildfire smoke in the area had triggered his asthma, a condition he said few people know he struggles with.

Wearing a baseball cap, reflective sunglasses, and a maroon t-shirt, Bryan sounded a bit congested as he explained that he was in Oregon, where he’d performed a concert the night before in Bend. He said that early on in the show, “stuff was going great.”
“But obviously with all the smoke and the wildfires, midway through the show, (I) just started really, really struggling there,” Bryan said, and then revealed, “I have asthma, and a lot of people don’t really know that. Sometimes it gets the best of me, and it did last night.”
According to the American Lung Association, asthma is a “chronic lung disease causing changes in the airways of the lungs” that can be life-threatening when exposed to “viruses, allergens, irritants, or even emotions.”
This summer, wildfires have destroyed homes and displaced tens of thousands of residents in Spokane, and around Eastern and Central Washington. According to KOMO News, the smoke has created “dangerous air quality” in the areas where Bryan was scheduled to perform.
Bryan said in his video, “Having a show up in Washington tonight and tomorrow with, certainly, all the wildfires going, we just felt like it’d probably be best to come back and reschedule to where we know I’ll be 100%.”

GettyBryan expressed his gratitude and good wishes for Washingtonians in his video, noting, “Most importantly, we wanted everyone to know we’re praying for ’em and thinking about all the firefighters out here, and all of those that are affected by these western wildfires.”
“We had spoken to people in the Spokane area about coming and doing the show, and they were really for us doing it,” he said, “but after last night and seeing the conditions, I just think it’s probably best if we pick another date.”
“Thank you, guys, for understanding,” Bryan concluded. “And the fans in Bend, Oregon, you guys were amazing last night, singing along with me. Love y’all.”
Bryan then posted a text update that said the August 7 Spokane story has been rescheduled for October 11, and the August 8 show in the Seattle area will now take place on October 10.
“Thank you for your understanding and patience,” he reiterated. “I can’t wait to be back and see y’all soon.”
Fans flooded Bryan’s video with sympathetic comments, including one on Facebook who wrote, “First of all put your health first. A person with asthma don’t need to be breathing in a lot of smoke. Your fans love you and they know you will be back when it is better for your health!”
Many who attended his Oregon concert also tweeted that they’d noticed how hard it was to perform, including someone who wrote, “Wish you would have rescheduled Bend last night. Seen you a bunch and we definitely didn’t get your normal show. I know you were dying up there!”
“My wife and I were at the show, we saw the struggle right away,” another tweeted. “True true professional did the whole show”
