Britani Bateman’s unicorn stuffy with Jared Osmond’s voice recording was a hot topic in the latest episode of “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.”
The mom of two revealed that she had brought a stuffed unicorn with her on the cast’s group trip to Canouan, Grenadines, in a “Below Deck” crossover episode. When prompted, the unicorn said in Osmond’s voice, “Goodnight, baby. You are loved.”
While the cast thought the unicorn was cringey, Osmond explained in a November 4 appearance on the “Kiki and Kibbitz” podcast, “Britney and I were on a date, and we were walking through the mall, and every year growing up with my kids … I would get them a Build-A-Bear for their birthdays.”
When relaying his tradition to Bateman, she told him that no one had ever done anything like that for her, so they went into the store, and Osmond picked out a unicorn for the “RHOSLC” star.
“It was never meant for public consumption. I didn’t know she was going to take that on the trip,” Osmond said. “It was private,” he added.
Bateman Told Fans Osmond Planted the Unicorn
After Osmond revealed that he didn’t know his on-again-off-again girlfriend would share his unicorn gift to the public, Bateman presented her side to the stuffy story.
“Correction. Jared actually showed up as a surprise to say goodbye the day of the trip and helped me pack. When I opened my luggage, I found that he had slipped that Unicorn into my suitcase as a surprise,” she posted on the “Kiki and Kibbitz” Instagram post.
Bateman continued, “It was sweet, but I don’t know why he is saying he didn’t know I would bring it on the trip when he put it in my bag himself, unbeknownst to me. very sweet gesture.”
The Unicorn Stuffy Meets a Sad Fate
It’s no secret that Bronwyn Newport and Bateman have not gotten along on “RHOSLC,” but the unicorn stuffy was sadly the victim of their feud.
In a sneak peek of the next episode shared by Bravo, Newport manages to snag the plush doll and brings it to Meredith Marks’ room.
“I think it’s a gift-slash-sacrifice,” Newport giggles. The two hatch a plan to throw the unicorn overboard. “It’s exactly what Britani deserves, period,” Marks tells the cameras.
While fans don’t condone jeopardizing sea life, one shared on Reddit, “Meredith v Britani is becoming one of the funniest feuds in recent memory. They’re both so unserious yet serious that it feels like this all would be on a 90s sitcom with a laugh track in the background to let you know that it’s all secretly ok.”
Another conflicted fan wrote, “This is making me all kinds of confused. I go from thinking the costumes are stupid to thinking they’re hilarious, i hate how mean this is, but also i hate the unicorn… I’m being pulled in every direction.”
