Cameron Mathison is currently portraying Drew Cain, one of the most hated men on “General Hospital.” It has been new territory for the actor, who is used to being cast as really nice guys in the majority of his projects. Even this week on the soap, Drew is manipulating everyone in his path and even threatened to have his young nephew arrested, just to get even with his brother. Many soap fans agree that Drew’s comeuppance will likely appear in the form of a body bag.
Redemption for Drew Cain seems like an impossibility, but Cameron Mathison’s co-stars are taking turns singing his praises. Katelyn MacMullen (Willow Tait on GH) recently chatted with Michael Fairman TV about working with Mathison.
Katelyn MacMullen Says Cameron Is ‘Phenomenal’
ABCKatelyn MacMullen’s character of Willow Tait has been along for the ride with Drew Cain for the last year. She left her marriage to Michael Corinthos and lost her children, before finally seeing the real man that everyone had warned her about. Willow may hate the man that she just left at the alter, but Katelyn adores playing out this story with Cameron.
โHeโs truly phenomenal, and then obviously his work is just incredible. I feel like I learned a lot from working with him because heโs been doing this for a while, and heโs so kind to me, and supportive, and always makes sure that Iโm feeling okay,โ she told Michael Fairman.
โItโs been cool to navigate this storyline with him because we both have been like, โWhat is happening next? What are we doing?โ Weโve kind of had to dive in together. I feel very grateful.โ
Bradford Anderson Has Also Defended His GH Co-Star
GettyMacMullen isn’t the only one speaking up about Cameron’s character. Bradford Anderson, who plays Spinelli on GH, praised him on the “That’s Awesome with Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson” podcast.
“Heโs such a kind, on-the-level kind and considerate. So when heโs playing the Drew stuff, like heโll do something nuts and then just come out of character, so different,โ Anderson expressed. โItโs just so funny cause they are so far apart, reality, and on-screen is so far apart. I think, like anybody, heโs used to being liked, and heโs an eternally likeable fella. It has to be a new experience, and I think heโs handling it so well,” says the actor.
When it comes to playing Drew, Anderson says, โItโs so funny, He [Mathison] really seems to be like โalright letโs go,โ thereโs no protecting this anymore. Itโs so funny to see him at work with kind of like a, and I say this in the best possible way, just kind of like an F-it attitude. Like, letโs go. Whatever.”
