This summer, soap fans are getting an epic crossover event between “Beyond the Gates” and “The Young and the Restless”. It’s the first of its kind for soaps, and beloved “The Young and the Restless” star Peter Bergman (Jack) got real about being part of it.
Peter Bergman Gets Real About CBS Soaps Event
News that Geona City was going to invade Fairmont Crest broke earlier this year. In an interview with Michael Fairman TV, Bergman revealed that he was part of the crossover, which has already been filmed.
“It was a fantastic experience, lovely people. They have a beautiful soundstage and a camaraderie among the cast that is enviable,” he expressed.
The soap vet went on to gush that everyone on “Beyond the Gates” is an original cast member, since the show is only a year old. Bergman loved that, adding, “There are no experts. There are no long-term legends on that show. They are all legends. It is fantastic, and it’s a wonderful environment to be in.”
While Bergman couldn’t spill any details on the crossover, he’s grateful that he got to be part of this first-ever kind of CBS soap event. The actor couldn’t contain his praise for “Beyond the Gates” and what the show has accomplished in such a short time.
“You started a soap opera a year ago! Oh, my gosh. Wow.” Bergman shared.
What to Know About the ‘Beyond the Gates’ & ‘The Young and the Restless’ Crossover
Several “The Young and the Restless” cast members made the trek from Los Angeles to Atlanta to film the multi-episode crossover. Bryton James (Devon), Eric Braeden (Victor), Michael Mealor (Kyle), Susan Walters (Diane), and Melissa Ordway (Abby) joined Bergman for filming the event.
The crossover focuses on Martin’s (Brandon Claybon) political fundraiser, which reveals several connections between Geona City and Fairmont Crest.
It turns out that Victor and Vernon (Clifton Davis) are long-time friends. Victor has even backed many of Vernon’s political campaigns.
There is also the friendship between Kyle and Martin, who became friends after college when they were each living in New York City. Kyle brings his parents, Diane and Jack, which should be interesting with Victor in the mix as well.
Last year, it was revealed that Devon was friends with the Dupree family, especially Vernon and Anita (Tamara Tunie), because of their shared love of music and their close ties to his father, Neil (Kristoff St. John). Devon makes an appearance at the fundraiser with his wife, Abby, and gets a life-changing business opportunity from Anita.
The special crossover is slated to air in June, but specific dates have not yet been announced.
