“The Young and the Restless” fans are getting a real treat with the return of Shemar Moore as Malcolm Winters. Moore’s been a key player on the CBS soap for over three decades, and he plans to keep it that way.
Shemar Moore Will Always Say Yes to ‘The Young and the Restless’
It’s no secret that Moore has had a very successful career in primetime after getting his start in the soap world. Despite the many years he has spent away from “The Young and the Restless,” it will always be Moore’s home.
The actor recently did an interview with Y&R Insider about his latest return, which also involved him reuniting on-screen with Vivica A. Fox (Stephanie) after 34 years. In the interview, Moore was fully transparent about why he’s always up for a trip to Genoa City.
“To be here at ‘The Young and the Restless’, it truly is coming home, and they have asked me throughout the years to come visit and play a little bit, and you never say no,” he declared before adding, “This is where it all started for me.”
On April 12, 1994, Moore stepped on the set of the CBS soap for the first time, and it changed his life. The actor credits “The Young and the Restless” creator Bill Bell for taking a chance on a “scared” kid.
“Without that moment and without my years here, I wouldn’t be sitting here talking to you. I wouldn’t be blessed with the 33 years that this game has given me,” Moore insisted.
The “S.W.A.T.” star echoed that sentiment with TV Insider admitting he was “humbled and honored and nostalgic” during his latest stint back. Moore considers going back to the soap home, and that’s also because of his beloved co-stars, who mean the world to him.
Working with Christel Khalil (Lily) and Bryton James (Devon) is always another reason Moore keeps coming back. Moore always has fun working with those two and being part of the legacy black family in Genoa City.
The actor has returned five times since leaving “The Young and the Restless” as a full-time cast member, and he plans to just keep adding to that number.
Life After ‘The Young and the Restless’
Moore has been booked and busy since he left the CBS soap back in 2004. The actor went on to spend 11 years on “Criminal Minds” before headlining “S.W.A.T.” for 8 seasons.
Along with his return to where it all began on “The Young and the Restless,” Moore is reprising his role as Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson in the “S.W.A.T.” spin-off “S.W.A.T. Exiles”, which he is currently shopping around in hopes of finding the show a home soon.
In his personal life, the actor is the father of a three-year-old daughter, Frankie Meleine Moore, with his ex-partner, model Jesiree Dizon.
