Hollywood star Vivica A. Fox is returning to her soap roots this spring, reprising the role of Dr. Stephanie Simmons on “The Young and the Restless“. The last time Fox was on the CBS soap was over three decades ago, and she’s ready for soap fans to see her back in the mix with an unexpected storyline.
Going Back to Her Soap Roots
Ahead of her highly anticipated return to “The Young and the Restless”, Fox opened up to Woman’s World regarding going back to soaps, where her acting career began.
“There’s going to be a flashback scene with me and the amazing and handsome Shemar Moore. It was like getting back on the bike. I love it, because that’s where I started,” she expressed to the outlet.
Moore is back as Malcom Winters, who is somehow entangled with Stephanie again after their brief fling years ago. Several “The Young and the Restless” stars have a first look at Moore back on set, but nothing of Fox so far, even though she and Moore are both currently filming the show.
Fox can’t say too much about Stephanie’s return to Genao City. However, she feels fans will really enjoy the upcoming storyline.
“My character, Dr. Stephanie Simmons, is going to come in and take charge of a situation that you’ll be very happy to watch. Look out for a lot of surprises, a lot of hidden secrets that will be spilled, and a lot of great fashions,” the actress teased.
“The Young and the Restless” fans can expect to see Moore and Fox on-screen in April.
Vivica A. Fox’s Soap History
Before she was starring in hit films like “Independence Day” and making must-see TV movies, Fox was a soap staple.
Fox got her start as April Sutton on “Days of Our Lives” in 1988. The role was short-lived.
Next up for the actress was “Generations,” where she played Maya and worked with the late, great Kristoff St. John from 1989 to 1991. They would reconnect on “The Young and the Restless” when Fox first played Stephanie from 1994 to 1995. St. John played Neil on the CBS soap from 1991 until he died in 2019.
Fox revealed what it was like to return to “The Young and the Restless” without St. John this time around.
“Kristoff was basically my first acting partner,” Fox says wistfully. “When I walked to the office to meet all the executives for The Young and the Restless recently, there was a huge portrait of him on the wall, and I burst into tears,” Fox declared.
After exiting the CBS soap, Fox went on to star in major blockbuster films and has built a steady career in TV movies, especially holiday films.
