“The Young and the Restless” is getting ready for two major returns that will bring a reunion 30 years in the making to Genoa City this spring.
Fan favorite Shemar Moore is stepping back into the role of Malcom Winters. Moore is bringing his friend and former co-star Vivica A. Fox, who is reprising the role of Dr. Stephanie Simmons, with him for his latest return.
Vivica A Fox and Shemar Moore to Shake Thins up on ‘The Young and the Restless’
Soap Opera Digest reports that Moore and Fox began taping their new arc on Tuesday, February 17. They are expected to debut on screen as Stephanie and Malcolm in April.
Details regarding the storyline of what brings Malcolm and Stephanie back in the mix are being kept under wraps by the powers that be at “The Young and the Restless.” However, the CBS soap promises the “return has shocking and lasting implications for the residents of Genoa City.”
Fox and Moore won’t be sticking around long, considering they are both busy with other projects. Moore is currently working on the “S.W.A.T.” spin-off “S.W.A.T. Exiles”, while Fox is gearing up to promote her upcoming Amazon and MGM film Is God Is, which will be released in May.
“The Young and the Restless” Reunion Three Decades Later
The Hollywood stars made their debut on “The Young and the Restless” in 1994. Over three decades later, Moore and Fox are working together again on the show that helped launch their careers.
Their characters, Malcom and Stephanie, even dated for a brief time before Fox exited the show in 1995. Moore was on the show for eight years, leaving in 2002.
However, unlike Fox, who has not been back on the soap in over 30 years, Moore has made several returns. The actor reprised the role of Malcom from 2004 to 2005 before making a guest appearance in 2014.
Moore’s most notable return was to honor his on-screen brother and real-life friend, Kristoff St. John (Neil), following his death in 2019. Neil died on the show, and Malcom returned to help give his brother a proper send-off.
The last time Moore was on the CBS soap was in 2023 to celebrate its 50th anniversary, which had a very special nod to St. John and Neil.
Now three years later, Moore brings Malcom back to Genoa City with a familiar face and former flame in tow.
