Cattrall has been open about getting older and the pressures women in Hollywood face as they age.
Cattrall Talks Aging
Back in 2023, Cattrall spoke with the Sunday Times and discussed the ways she approaches aging and said she is “all about battling aging in every way I can.”
The actress also acknowledged that she is financially able to pursue treatments and procedures if she chooses.
“It’s not just a vanity thing. I play a certain kind of woman who looks a certain kind of way. And professionally I am looking after myself,” Cattrall said.
She explained that she wants to look like the “best version” of herself while also emphasizing the importance of finding the right medical professionals.
“It can’t be emphasized enough. You want to look like you!” she said.
Cattrall has also spoken about how aging can affect actresses’ careers in Hollywood.
In 2020, ahead of the premiere of her Fox series “Filthy Rich,” she reflected on how her opportunities changed as she got older.
“In my 50s, I felt things slipping away,” she told PEOPLE. “It was a gradual change, but the scripts were cut in half.”
Cattrall explained that she felt Hollywood often placed actresses into narrow categories based on their age.
“In Hollywood you’re either an ingenue or a leading lady and then a divorced wife or a cougar. And I’m none of those things. So I wanted to examine that,” she said.
Despite those challenges, Cattrall has continued building a lengthy career across television, film and theater.
She became internationally known for playing Samantha Jones on “Sex and the City,” a role that earned her multiple award nominations and a Golden Globe win.
Looking back at her career, Cattrall has expressed gratitude for how long she has remained in the entertainment industry.
“It’s an incredible thing to have been in the business this long,” she said in 2020. “I thought the best thing for my life would be being an actress that worked. And I’m flabbergasted that I’ve gotten as far as I have.”
