‘Survivor 49’ Star Reveals What Life is Like on Ponderosa After Being Sent to the Jury

While “Survivor” players eliminated in the first few episodes of any given season are given a one-way ticket back to the United States after having their torches snuffed by longtime host Jeff Probst, those eliminated after reaching the Merge are required to remain on location in Fiji as members of the Jury.

For the remainder of the competition, Jury members continue to attend each and every Tribal Council ceremony, but instead of facing harsh conditions, dangerous wildlife, and miniscule access to food, shelter and comfort, they get to live out the rest of their “Survivor” journey at a place called “Ponderosa.”

Though CBS used to provide footage of castaways enjoying their stay at Ponderosa after being eliminated from the series, the network has since ceased documenting the journeys, likely due to the same budget cuts that made features like loved ones visits a thing of the past.

Thankfully, “Survivor 49” star Michelle “MC” Chukwujekwu has been providing fans of the currently-airing season with plenty of behind the scenes insights regarding her stay on Ponderosa on TikTok after she was sent to the Jury following Episode 8’s split Tribal Council ceremony.

MC Calls Ponderosa a ‘Nice Consolation Prize’ After Being Eliminated

“Ponderosa is a vibe and a half,” MC reported in a November 22 TikTok video addressing the now seldom-seen home of “Survivor” jurors.

“I mean, obviously you still want to be in the game,” the 29-year-old fitness trainer continued.  “But to go from starving, not knowing when your next meal is going to be, not knowing how you’re gonna use the bathroom – am I gonna go poop in the ocean or am I gonna go dig a hole? – to going to this hotel where you can eat whatever you want, you can eat whenever you want …it was a nice consolation prize.”

While players this season have been so deprived of food that they’ve resorted to eating worms, MC revealed that, on Ponderosa, “They have a menu that you can order things off of…Whatever your heart desires, they will make it for you.”

In addition to copious amounts of freshly prepared food, MC added that Ponderosa was also an “all you can drink” venue for the jurors of “Survivor 49.”

“Cause you know your girl was drinking,” she revealed.

On top of that, MC revealed that Ponderosa provided the jurors with unfettered access to private massages, a spa, a pool – complete with floaties – and even a PlayStation 5.

“We even had a karaoke night,” she gushed.

Despite the bounty of food and entertainment available, she added that the jurors are still restricted from using their phones and watching television during their stay at Ponderosa.

“They still don’t tell us what’s going on in the real world. We’re still super disconnected,” she revealed, “Which is honestly nice.”

MC Opens Up About Sharing Ponderosa with Nate and Alex

MC similarly opened up about sharing the Ponderosa resort with her fellow jurors, which, at the time of her video, included former Marvel Studios executive Nate Moore and political communications director Alex Moore.

“The trio that is at Ponderosa right now – immaculate vibes,” she revealed. “The vibes were high. We got along really well. We played card games. We got to know each other more.”

In summation, MC described her stay at Ponderosa as “amazing.”

“Of course, I do wish I was still in the game playing for the million dollars,” she added, “[But Ponderosa] was a nice consolation prize.”
