If you watched Season 26 of “The Bachelor” featuring Clayton Echard, then you might remember one of the contestants, Melina Nasab. Although she didn’t make a love connection on the show, she eventually ended up in a relationship with Max Keefe in 2022 before getting married this past summer. If you follow Melina on Instagram, then you’ll also be aware of the fact that she loves to ride horses. Unfortunately, that recently led to a scary accident that put her in the emergency room.
Taking to her Instagram Stories (via Bachelor Nation), Melina first shared a shot of her riding her horse, Ruby. She wrote, “It was a beautiful dandy day until…”
She then posted a photo of herself in a hospital bed with cuts on her face and a brace around her neck. She wrote, “…I ended up in the ER 😭 didn’t have this one on my bingo card.”
Melina Said the Accident Was ‘So Scary & Traumatic’
Continuing to explain what happened via her Instagram Stories, Melina described the accident, saying, “Oh my god, so scary and traumatic.”
“I have never been in that situation,” she added. “I’ve fallen off of my horse many times, I’ve fallen off many times in my lifetime. Never fallen off of Ruby.”
Melina notes that she was practicing a jump with Ruby when something went wrong. Both the rider and the horse fell.
Melina Was Knocked Unconscious
“We fell and I had no recollection of what happened until maybe an hour later when I got to the hospital,” Melina explained.
“I was unconscious for a while on the floor and the whole barn family was huddled around me calling my parents and Max, and I was taken on a stretcher into the ambulance,” she said.
“I still thought I was dreaming… Apparently I flew up in the air, landed flat on my back, and Ruby is okay thank God. The vets were there, so he just has some scratches on his knees but he’s sound and okay.”
Melina also noted that she’s doing well considering what happened.
“CT scan came back, thank God, no broken bones,” she said. “Just a little bit of a beat up face, stitches in my lip and some bruising on my face. And MRI came back as well… just some bulging discs in my neck.”
She finished by saying, “Thank God we will live to see another day and Ruby is okay.”
