‘Bachelor’ Alum Opens up About Emotional Impact of Dog Attack

Sean Lowe, who led “The Bachelor” season 17, continues to be beloved by fans, as his relationship with his final choice, Catherine Giudici, has stood the test of time. The couple has now been married for over a decade and shares three children.

Back in March, Lowe and his wife shared an Instagram post detailing a frightening incident involving their family dog, during which the reality star was viciously attacked twice. After showing the painful stitches and scars from the ordeal, Lowe has since reflected on the experience, opening up about the lingering trauma and while expressing deep gratitude that his wife and children were not present.

“The Bachelor” Sean Lowe recently reflected on the scary incident that occurred in March, when his family dog, a boxer named Moose, attacked him twice at home, leaving him with injuries that required hospitalization.

Speaking on Jordyn Syatt’s podcast on Dec. 17, Lowe opened up about the lasting emotional impact of the incident. It was his first-ever interview about the dog attack since sharing the news on Instagram.

Lowe shared that the initial incident occurred after Moose was startled by the sound of a fire alarm, biting him in his arm, in which “there was blood squirting,” and he needed to get to the hospital quickly. But he couldn’t believe that just 12 hours later, the dog ran after him again, biting him in his other arm.

“It was quite the ordeal. I was just telling someone, I don’t really have PTSD. It’s funny because I’m such a dog lover and I’d never thought twice about putting my face in a dog’s face. But now I do think twice about doing stuff like that,” he said.

Lowe continued, “The only PTSD I have is the thought of, ‘What if it had bit my children?’ He would have absolutely killed my children, or my wife at that matter.”

“So, I think about that quite a bit, but for the most part, I’m doing pretty good,” he told the host.

Additionally, Lowe shared that he received an outpouring of love and support from fans, but was also surprised by some negative messages. In fact, he even received plenty of outreach from dog trainers, including celebrity trainer Cesar Millan.

According to Lowe’s March Instagram video, where he detailed the attack, he shared that the family decided to rehome Moose. Still, he admitted that he struggled to understand why Moose, whom he loved, would do that to him.

Lowe and his wife, Catherine Giudici, are the parents of three young children. In August, Lowe spoke on the “Stay True” podcast, where he revealed his hopes for his sons Samuel and Isaiah, and their daughter, Mia.

“My hope is that they’ll find some high school sweetheart. I actually want them to get married young,” he said, adding, “I think society today says, ‘You gotta establish a career and make sure everything’s settled and then get married.’”

He continued, “I got married at 30, and [Catherine] was 28. I would rather see them get married young, and that’s the foundation of things to come. Like, get married and, of course, spiritual maturity is a big part of that. Get married to someone who loves the Lord as much as you do, and then build your life after that. That’s kind of my hope.”

While not everyone may share his views, Lowe has always been open about his strong values.

As fans can recall, Lowe chose Giudici in his “Bachelor” finale, and the pair wed in January 2014 in a televised ceremony. They have since become a beloved Bachelor Nation couple and one of the most successful couples to come out of the franchise.
