Prince William & Kate Middleton’s Photographer Shares Rare Insight Into Life With George, Charlotte & Louis

Prince William and Kate Middleton’s longtime photographer is sharing what it’s really like to work with their three children. Chris Jackson, who has photographed the royal family for years, recently opened up about his experiences with Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, and how they’re growing up while still showing their personalities during royal events.

Jackson said the children are beginning to understand that their lives are different from most.

“You don’t see them very often, but when you do see them, it’s lovely to watch them kind of growing up,” Jackson told Page Six while promoting his new book, “Modern Majesty: The British Royal Family in a New Era.”

He added that their increasing awareness comes from their participation in major royal events.

“I’m guessing they realize it’s not normal to be in these situations,” Jackson said, referencing appearances like Trooping the Colour.

Despite their high-profile upbringing, Jackson noted that the siblings maintain a close bond.

“It’s lovely to see them interacting together,” he said.

Jackson also highlighted Charlotte’s presence during public appearances.

“She’s got great poise,” he said, noting that while she resembles William, she carries many traits similar to Kate.

Over the years, Jackson has captured both formal portraits and candid family moments, which he said often reveal the children’s personalities.

He recalled a moment during the 2025 VE Day parade when Charlotte and Louis teased George.

“I get all these kind of little moments,” Jackson said. “It’s lovely that I get a front seat view of George’s father-son relationship.”

He also shared that some of his favorite images come from unscripted interactions.

“She had quite a kind of a sense of focus in this picture,” Jackson said of a candid photo of Charlotte taken during the 2024 Trooping the Colour. “I love that moment.”

Jackson emphasized that photographing the royal family over time has allowed him to witness their growth firsthand.

“Photographing them over the years has been really special,” he said.

Jackson said that even highly planned shoots can include unexpected and lighthearted moments.

One example came during a portrait session for King Charles III’s 70th birthday.

“I had one of the people from the palace dress up as a bear,” Jackson said. “Everyone was chuckling and laughing.”

He explained that these moments help balance the more formal images required for royal history.

“It made a lovely kind of candid moment with the children, which was kind of a contrast to the more formal picture that you need for history,” he said.

Jackson also spoke about the broader royal family, including his experience photographing Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

“I’ve had a great experience photographing them both,” he said. “There’s all these different characters in the royal family, so I’ve always enjoyed photographing them.”

He added that the children often bring a sense of humor to royal events.

“They’re not always adhering to royal protocol, necessarily, and it’s that kind of heartwarming situation that has me chuckling behind the camera,” Jackson said.

As Jackson continues documenting the royal family, he said being present for these moments remains a privilege.

“One of the great things about being a royal photographer is being at the epicentre of these incredible, positive, exciting moments,” Jackson said to Hello.
