Prince William & Kate Middleton Joined by Children in Rare Public Outing

Prince William and Kate Middleton were joined by their three children — Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis — for a rare public family outing in Scotland on Aug. 24.

The Prince and Princess of Wales attended a church service at Crathie Kirk, located near Balmoral, alongside other senior members of the royal family.

Royal Family Attends Balmoral Church Service

William, 43, was behind the wheel of a Range Rover, appearing focused as he drove the family to the service at Crathie Kirk. Sitting beside him, Kate, also 43, was photographed smiling.

The Princess of Wales wore a maroon top under a brown-and-burgundy plaid jacket, paired with a black hat that highlighted her newly lightened honey-toned hair. She first debuted the softer shade in April, but Sunday’s outing gave one of the clearest looks yet.

In the back, George, 12, Charlotte, 10, and Louis, 7, looked calm and composed as they rode together with their parents.

According to People, King Charles and Queen Camilla were also in attendance, as were Princess Anne and her husband, Sir Timothy Laurence. Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie joined the group as well, marking one of the largest family gatherings of the summer.

Summer at Balmoral & Upcoming Move

The royals are currently spending their traditional summer holiday at Balmoral in the Scottish Highlands, a retreat that has been in use since the reign of Queen Victoria.

The estate, purchased by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in 1852, remains one of the monarchy’s most treasured private residences.

The family gathering comes as William and Kate prepare to move later this year. They are expected to leave Adelaide Cottage, their four-bedroom residence, for Forest Lodge, an eight-bedroom home located in Windsor Great Park.

According to Page Six, William and Kate see the relocation to Forest Lodge as a symbolic “fresh start” following what sources have described as a difficult year, including Middleton’s private cancer battle. The move will give the family more space while keeping them close to Windsor Castle.

Kate briefly stepped away from family time earlier this week when she sent her support to the England women’s rugby team ahead of the Women’s Rugby World Cup. Earlier this summer, she also attended Wimbledon, where she carried on her tradition as patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.

The Balmoral outing marks one of the few times in 2025 the Prince and Princess of Wales have appeared in public with all three of their children, making it a rare sighting for royal watchers.
