Priyanka Chopra Reveals Why She & Nick Jonas Have Changed Their Boundaries With the Public

Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas are proud — and understandably protective — parents of their four-year-old daughter, Malti. That’s why they’ve just had a change of heart (again) when it comes to sharing photos of the little one.

Chopra and former “The Voice” coach Jonas first tried to keep Malti’s image private and only posted shots with her face covered. However, “once they realized she was getting photographed in public anyway, they decided to take the power back,” according to Parade. That was followed by another decision. “After taking her to Jonas’ Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, they ended up changing their minds.”

“We were like, ‘Nah, let’s not do that anymore.’ It’s new, you’re trying to navigate this new thing. Her baby pictures we didn’t care as much but as she’s growing older, we’ve started to also, kind of, just deflect a little bit,” Chopra said during a “Not Skinny But Not Fat” podcast interview clip that was shared with People.

Malti Was Followed Home from School & Recorded

Chopra also addressed the fact that she and Nick have security with them when they go out with Malti. Noting that their daughter was once followed home from school and recorded by someone they didn’t know, Chopra explained during the podcast chat, “When we have security out and about, it’s just … to not be recorded without consent because a lot of that happens.”

“Let her have as much anonymity as she can” Chopra said.

She also explained, “It is her normal and people will be curious about her and I never want her to be fearful of that or judgy or skeptical of the humans that she meets because there are good people in the world, and I’ve had wonderful experiences with friends like that.”

Priyanka Accepts That She ‘Chose a Public Life’

“I’ve always been of the opinion that I kind of chose a public life,” Chopra said during the podcast interview. “I’m pragmatic enough to be like that’s the nature of the beast. If you’re gonna live a public life, people will be interested and curious.”

However, she added, “[When] it comes to children, that’s … terrain we are all learning in the last like 10 to 20 years what that is gonna be like in the next 10 years, 15 years for them. So I think a little bit of grace is required for everyone, but also certain awareness of safety and what that means.”
