“The Voice” continues its Blind Auditions after a Season 29 opener that combined excitement, intrigue, and laugh-out-loud moments.
According to an NBC Insider press release, “The Voice: Battle of Champions” will have three episodes of Blind Auditions, each running two hours long. The episodes will allow coaches Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, and Adam Levine to fill their teams with ten members each.
How Many Weeks Will ‘The Voice’ Blind Auditions Last?
The second night of “Voice” Blind Auditions will air on March 2. The final night is scheduled for March 9. The auditions began on February 23.
The new “Battle of Champions” season features a new rule that applies to all coaches: the Triple Turn Competition. This first-of-its-kind switch changes how they can add a contestant to their team, reports NBC Insider.
When all three coaches are interested in a particular singer and turn their chairs toward them, Legend, Clarkson, and Levine will compete against each other to get the artist to join their team. Throughout the Blind Auditions, the coach who convinces the most artists to join their team will win a Super Steal to use in the battles portion of the competition.
Legend has won one time. He competes against Clarkson with four wins and Levine with three wins. However, all coaches believe they have a good shot at getting the artist of their choosing to compete on their teams.
In an NBC promotional clip, the judges discussed the Triple Turn Competition and how it places all of the coaches on equal footing. “I feel like any of us could win that,” Legend admitted.
Clarkson added that this new element makes the format “interesting. It really just depends on what Artists are coming out and who they’re, you know, inspired by and want to work with.”
Subsequently, the Super Steal ensures that a contestant gets to remain on a judge’s team, no matter if another judge wants to secure them for their own group.
Expect Fun Banter to Continue Between Judges Throughout Season 29 of ‘The Voice’
Viewers of “The Voice” can expect the fun banter between judges to continue throughout the season. In an NBC promotional video, Kelly Clarkson shared a few details about the excitement ahead.
“This is ‘The Voice: Battle of Champions,’ which excites me, because I’m very competitive as you may have heard,” Clarkson admitted. “Boys, I hope you’re ready.”
In a particularly laugh-out-loud moment, Levine tries to sway a competitor to join his team. He declares, “I can speak from experience as a coach on ‘The Voice’ which I have a lot of.”
Clarkson replied, “Not more wins.” This caused Levine to chuckle at her stinging remark.
Despite their fun banter, the “Kelly Clarkson Show” host says her relationship with Adam Levine and John Legend is rooted in friendship. “It is so fun doing this show again,” she exclaimed. “And it’s even more fun doing it with John and Adam. Because we have such a level of chemistry that is hard to find.”
“The Voice: Battle of Champions” airs on Monday nights at 9 p.m. ET on NBC. New episodes air the next day on Peacock.
