Longtime fans of TLC’s “Sister Wives” witnessed Kody Brown go through three divorces in three years. The sister wife who led the mass exodus was Kody’s former third wife, Christine Brown Woolley.
In a recent sit-down interview, Christine revealed the many triggers that ignited her desire to leave her ex. Read on to discover what the “Sister Wives” star had to say.
Christine Brown Woolley Says There Were Many Reasons She Left Kody
In a recent sit-down interview on “Pop Psych,” a podcast hosted by psychologist Dr. David Colarossi and his wife, Allison Colarossi, the hosts asked Christine, “What was the trigger point for you to leave?”
Christine responded, “Like so many, so many little trigger points.” She also acknowledged that one of the biggest was Kody’s refusal to attend their daughter Ysabel’s major back surgery.
This was a huge moment for “Sister Wives” fans, too. Viewers were left in disbelief that Kody wouldn’t take time to go with Christine and Ysabel to show support during such a significant event.
The “Sister Wives” star revealed this was also the moment that she realized, “I can’t be in a family with a guy who doesn’t recognize my children as his family.”
Christine Brown Woolley Never Felt Heard In the Brown Family
During the interview, Christine also shared that in their fundamentalist Mormon belief system, they are taught that in the afterlife, you build planets together.
The “Sister Wives” star added that she remembered thinking, “I can’t build planets with these people.”
Christine went on to share that this was because she never felt like she had a voice in the Brown family, which was ultimately another trigger that led her to leave Kody.
David Woolley Praises Christine For Helping Other Women Find the Courage to Leave Unsafe Environments
After leaving Kody, viewers were given a front-row seat to Christine’s journey to find real love the second time around and watched as she tied the knot with David Woolley in October 2023.
David also sat down with Christine for the interview with “Pop Psych,” where he praised his wife for helping other women find the strength to leave environments where they don’t feel safe or heard.
David shared with the hosts that since getting together with Christine, he has witnessed so many women come up to his wife and say, “You’re the reason why I left my husband.” David guesses that at least a thousand women have told Christine this over the last several years.
He explained that many of those women reached a turning point while watching Christine speak out about feeling unseen and unheard, realizing they were done in their own situations as well.
Christine added that she loves it when people come up and tell her that she helped them leave situations that were not good for them, calling it “humbling and incredible.”
As Christine Brown Woolley continues to reflect on her decision to leave Kody, it’s clear that there was no single breaking point, but rather a series of moments that led her to choose a different path.
Now, years later, she’s not only found happiness in her new life with David Woolley but has also become an unexpected source of strength for other women navigating similar situations.
For many fans, Christine’s journey has become more than just a storyline. It’s a reminder that it’s never too late to walk away from something that no longer feels right.
