John Stamos is honoring one of his closest friends and longtime co-stars, Bob Saget, on what would have been a milestone birthday.
On Sunday, May 17, the “Full House” actor took to Instagram to remember Saget on what would have been his 70th birthday, sharing a heartfelt message alongside a carousel of photos and videos documenting their decades-long friendship.
Stamos’ Touching Tribute
The touching tribute offered fans a glimpse at the close bond the two actors shared both on and off screen.
Throughout the years, Stamos and Saget frequently celebrated major life moments together, often sharing laughs and memories that extended far beyond their time on television.
“We used to throw each other great birthday parties,” Stamos wrote in the emotional caption. “Your 70th today would’ve been epic! I miss you and love you.”
The post quickly resonated with fans, many of whom flooded the comments section with birthday wishes for Saget and messages of support for Stamos.
Fans React
“Sending you all so much love,” one follower wrote.
Another remembered the late comedian as “America’s Dad,” referencing his beloved role as Danny Tanner on “Full House.”
Others reflected on the nostalgia of revisiting the sitcom and the lasting impact Saget had on audiences over the years.
“Happy heavenly birthday ‘Danny,’” one fan shared. “I have recently introduced my daughter to Full House and the memories and beautiful nostalgia just came rushing back.”
Many supporters also encouraged Stamos to hold onto the memories he shared with Saget.
“You have great memories and videos. Hold on to those memories tightly, they will get you through the rough patches,” another person commented.
Stamos was not the only loved one honoring Saget on his birthday.
Saget’s Widow Shared a Heartbreaking Post
His widow, Kelly Rizzo, also posted a deeply personal tribute reflecting on what Saget’s life might look like if he were still here today.
“Happy heavenly 70th birthday. Wow… 70,” Rizzo wrote.
She joked that Saget would have proudly declared himself “the youngest-looking, youngest-feeling, and youngest-acting 70-year-old on the planet.”
Rizzo also reflected on Saget’s relentless work ethic, explaining that retirement was never something he envisioned for himself.
According to her, he loved creating, performing stand-up, and making people laugh, often citing fellow comedians like Don Rickles and television icon Norman Lear as examples of the kind of long, creative life he hoped to lead.
She added that she believed Saget would have especially loved becoming a grandfather while continuing to be an incredible father, husband, friend, and performer.
“And while my mantra since losing Bob has always been that I wasn’t robbed, because I’m so lucky I got to experience the gift of him for six beautiful years,” she wrote, “damn, I really do wish we all got to see what he’d be doing today.”
Saget died in January 2022 at age 65 after suffering an accidental fall in his hotel room while on a comedy tour.
He was later found to have passed away in his sleep.
More than four years later, his memory clearly continues to live on through the people who loved him most.
