Famed actor Bug Hall, 40, who played Alfalfa in “The Little Rascals,” opened up in an interview with Daily Mail about his unconventional lifestyle after having ditched Hollywood for off-grid living.
“My goal is to maintain a life as free of any need for an income as possible,” Hall told the outlet. “If there’s a financial need that comes up, I’ll go take some work or do an odd job for cash to fulfill that need.”

The former actor shared that his family’s spending needs are for gas to power a generator and their vehicle, as well as $100 for his and his wife’s cellphones.
Hall told Daily Mail that his family plans to be completely disconnected from the world within six months, as they intend to build a house on their 80-acre plot in Arkansas with its own plumbing and electrical systems powered by a hydroelectric dam.
Before he and his wife, Jill, moved off the grid, they lived in Los Angeles, where they welcomed their eldest daughters. From there, the family moved to Texas in 2020, later relocating to Michigan and Ohio. Hall is now a father to five children as he continues to build his alternative lifestyle.
The former actor told the outlet that he and his wife plan to “strongly discourage” their children from going to college after homeschooling them throughout their adolescence. The former actor added that public and private schooling is “nonsense.”
Bug Hall’s Reason for Leaving Hollywood
GettyBefore his family made the decision to transition into off-grid living, Hall had a major run-in with the law. The former actor was arrested in 2020, Daily Mail reports. He told the outlet in his interview that his previous arrest was the reset his life needed.
At the time of his arrest, Hall relapsed into drugs after being sober for 15 years. He told the outlet that although he loved working in the film industry, his recurring relapses had been “brushed to the side,” and he wasn’t willing to continue that lifestyle with a growing family at home.
“I loved making movies. I loved writing, producing, acting,” he said. “So God had to shake me up a little harder, I suppose.”
“The Little Rascals” isn’t the only film Hall is known for. According to his IMDb, Hall also co-wrote the 2020 movie “This Is the Year,” which was executive produced by Selena Gomez. He appeared in many films, including “Cabrini,” “The Shadow People,” “North Blvd” and more.
