TLC’s “Unexpected” returns for season 7, introducing viewers to eight young students whose lives are forever changed as they navigate pregnancy and prepare for parenthood.
In a sneak peek obtained by Us Weekly, the new season follows teenagers as they confront life-changing responsibilities at an early age, including one of the show’s youngest expectant fathers to date, 13-year-old Hunter.
‘Unexpected’ Returns For a Brand-New Season 7
TLC is spotlighting another group of teenagers preparing for parenthood in the brand-new season 7 of “Unexpected.” In a first look at the new season, viewers are introduced to eight young people who are not only going to be parents, but are also navigating tense family dynamics as their own parents come to terms with becoming grandparents sooner than expected.
The first teenagers introduced in the clip are a couple named Mia and Jesse, who are both 16 and ready to welcome a baby into the world. However, Mia’s father isn’t too happy, admitting, “When I first met Jesse, I kind of didn’t like him, then this happened. Now I definitely don’t like the kid now.”
Viewers are then introduced to a slightly older couple, Isabella and Bryce, both 18, who are gearing up for parenthood as conflict between their families threatens to complicate things.
“Bryce needs anger management,” Isabella’s mom Tasha, tells Bryce’s mom, Connie. “He’s a manipulative, narcissistic, piece of [expletive].”
Connie replies, “You should hear how your daughter calls my son a little [expletive].”
Further in the clip, Isabella finds herself arguing with family, shouting, “Tell him to get a job and take care of the [expletive] kid he made!” In a confessional, she adds, “Bryce is no good for anything. Physically, financially, nothing.”
Viewers are also introduced to 16-year-olds Amaya and Jose. In a confessional with her mother, Amaya shares, “I heard my mom say that it was harder for bigger girls to get pregnant, like there was no way.”
‘Unexpected’ Features the Show’s Youngest Father at Just 13
Lastly, “Unexpected” will feature a 13-year-old boy preparing for fatherhood. In the clip, viewers meet 15-year-old Bella, who is pregnant with Hunter’s child.
However, things at school aren’t going so well for Hunter, with Bella’s mom sharing, “I don’t want him to be held back in the 8th grade.” Bella then replies, “I don’t want to be in the tenth grade dating an eighth grader. We’ve got a toddler.”
A press release for the new season promises that it will be the series’ most dramatic yet.
“This season brings together a mix of new teen couples, ages 13 to 18, offering an unfiltered look at the moments that shape their journeys. From baby showers, to births, to unexpectedly difficult decisions, grandparents step in, opinions collide and tensions rise as everyone pushes for what they believe is best for the baby.”
