Season 7 of TLC’s “Unexpected” began airing in February 2026. The series returned after a nearly 1.5-year hiatus with four brand-new couples. To the shock of many longtime “Unexpected” fans, the season introduced the youngest couple ever featured on the show, Bella and Hunter.
From the beginning of Season 7, fans have watched as 15-year-old Bella Vaughn and her 13-year-old boyfriend, Hunter Johnson, learn to navigate their unexpected teenage pregnancy. While delivery day has just approached for Bella on-screen, the couple has already reached a major milestone in real life, recently celebrating their son’s first birthday.
‘Unexpected’ Stars Bella and Hunter Celebrate Major Milestone
Teen parents, Bella Vaughn and Hunter Johnson, just celebrated a major milestone with their son. Bella gave birth to the couple’s son, Wesley Kristopher, in March 2025. Now, a year later, this young family has so much to celebrate, including Wesley’s first birthday.
Bella’s mother, Falen Vaughn, took to Instagram to share that Wesley’s first birthday party was a complete success. The family celebrated little Wesley with a rodeo-themed birthday party, complete with a custom cake and decorated cookies. From the photos, Wesley looks to be a healthy and happy one-year-old.
Inside Bella and Hunter’s Journey on TLC’s ‘Unexpected’
While little Wesley may have just turned one, back in the on-screen world of “Unexpected,” Bella and Hunter are just gearing up to be parents. Which means that the expectant parents are still juggling the daily life that comes with being a teenager, from school to sports to friends.
Fans quickly learn that one of Bella’s biggest concerns is Hunter not keeping up with his schoolwork. The ”Unexpected” star is especially worried that her boyfriend won’t be able to move on to the 9th grade, given his current marks. When TLC cameras are rolling, Bella even admits, “I don’t want to be two grades above you, a tenth grader dating an eighth grader. And we’ve got a toddler.”
While Bella might be frustrated by Hunter’s lack of effort, she’s also got his best interest at heart. The teen mom also tells TLC cameras that, “I’m not gonna let him fail. He’s going to go to school, and he’s going to do what he needs to do because he’s got a kid on the way.” Bella also goes on to admit that Hunter being held back would be devastating for her junior prom because freshmen aren’t allowed to go.
Luckily, from the looks of Wesley’s recent birthday party, it appears that the young family is doing well.
