The newest season of TLC’s “Unexpected” is well underway, introducing fans to the youngest teen dad yet, 13-year-old Hunter Johnson. While having a teen parent this young is a first, the show has never been short on compelling stories.
Going back to last season of “Unexpected,” fans will remember the story of Emalee Lenhard and her boyfriend, Nate Alden. The season began airing in June 2024, and at the time of filming, the teen parents were just 18 and 16, respectively.
During Season 6, Emalee and Nate welcomed their son, Westley Forrest Eugene Alden, into the world in January 2023. Now, a little over three years later, the “Unexpected” star is taking to social media to share updated family photos.
‘Unexpected’ Stars Emalee Lenhard and Nate Alden Are Still In a Relationship
Like most of the teen relationships featured on “Unexpected,” Emalee and Nate went through many ups and downs throughout their season. Being two years older than Nate, Emalee often felt like there was a maturity gap between the pair as well as a difference in priorities.
However, unlike many of the teen parents that have been featured on “Unexpected” over the last seven seasons, Emalee and Nate are still in a relationship.
Emalee confirmed the status of their relationship by sharing a carousel of new family photos on her Instagram. The “Unexpected” star shared 10 different photos, which were an array of images featuring herself, Nate, and the couple’s 3-year-old son, Westley.
The 21-year-old captioned her Instagram post, “My whole heart.”

Not to be outdone, Westley’s dad, Nate, also took to Instagram to share some updated photos of his family.
The “Unexpected” dad posted a carousel of seven photos for his followers. The first image captures a touching moment between father and son, as Westley gives Nate a kiss on the head.
Like Emalee, Nate also confirmed the status of their relationship by posting multiple photos of the couple cozied up together.

Despite getting pregnant just two months into their relationship, these teen parents have been able to defy the odds.
They’ve not only stayed together, but they’ve taken the next step and officially tied the knot. The couple will celebrate their second wedding anniversary later this year. The “Unexpected” stars currently live in Oregon with their 3-year-old son.
