The 16-year-old stars of TLC’s “Unexpected,” Mia Quebedeaux and Jessie Kistler, welcomed their daughter, Oakleigh Rae Kistler, into the world in June 2025. Now, nine months later, the teen mom has taken to Instagram to share an update on her daughter.
Paired with a carousel of adorable photos, the “Unexpected” star captioned her post, “My sweet baby girl is getting so so big mommy loves you so much, Oakleigh Rae!!!”
This update is a relief for fans, who are well aware that Mia’s family endured a house fire in January 2026. The house fire occurred on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at the home Mia shares with Jessie, Oakleigh, and her father, Keith.
Luckily, no family members were physically hurt in the fire. However, they lost their home and many of their possessions. In an effort to support the family during this time, a GoFundMe was set up to help the family recover.
What You Need To Know About Mia’s “Unexpected” Journey So Far
Back to on-screen action, Mia has yet to give birth to her daughter, Oakleigh. However, fans have learned that the “Unexpected” star has had a very tumultuous relationship with her mother, Nicole. Mia reveals to TLC cameras that her mother was “on and off being in jail” throughout most of her childhood.
She also shares that she hopes to have a much better relationship with her own daughter in the future. However, tensions between the teen mom and her mother boil over at Mia’s baby shower, after Nicole arrives when the party is essentially over.
Jessie’s mother, AK, also takes this opportunity to reveal that she believes that she deserves a spot in the delivery room over Nicole. Of course, Nicole does not feel the same way, which leaves 16-year-old Mia stuck in the middle.
In the end, Mia simply tells everyone that as of now, Jessie is the only one with a secured spot in the delivery room. Fans will have to tune into the new episodes of “Unexpected” on TLC to find out how the story unfolds.
