Comedian Melissa Villaseñor, best known for her time on “Saturday Night Live,” is recovering at home after a nasty fall while training for the Los Angeles Marathon left her injured and briefly hospitalized.
Villaseñor shared photographs and details of the accident with fans, showing both her resilience and trademark sense of humor even as she heals from the hard-earned scars of her fall.
The incident occurred during an 8-mile training run, part of Villaseñor’s preparation for an upcoming marathon.
Villaseñor Was Training For a Marathon
According to her own social posts, she tripped over a rock, resulting in a dramatic tumble that caused a swollen eye, a scraped cheek and stitches on her kneecap.
Villaseñor’s caption accompanying an image of her injuries read, in part, “One battle after another!” and included light-hearted references to having her “teef and brain still.”
After the fall, Villaseñor was taken to a hospital for treatment, where she received medical care for her wounds before being released to recuperate with her parents.
She expressed gratitude to the people who helped at the scene, calling out those who stopped to call an ambulance and offer comfort in the moments after her fall.
Her family support has been paramount as she begins the recovery process.
Fans Wish Her a Speedy Recovery
Fans quickly responded to Villaseñor’s update with encouragement and praise, applauding her openness in sharing the physical realities of the accident rather than hiding them.
Many commented that her honesty about the injury, along with her upbeat tone, made the post both relatable and inspiring — a reminder that setbacks can occur even in pursuit of healthy goals like marathon training.
She later shared a humorous video of herself in her brother’s car, with his gear shift being a rock.
Villaseñor made history as SNL’s first Latina cast member when she joined in 2016 and she remained on the show through 2022.
During her tenure on the legendary sketch series, she became known for her wide array of celebrity impressions and quick comic instincts, earning the respect of fans and peers alike.
Since leaving “Saturday Night Live,” Villaseñor has continued to work in entertainment. Among her recent credits are voice roles on “Gabby’s Dollhouse” and an upcoming role in “Toy Story 5” — projects that highlight her continued presence in both adult and family-oriented media.
Villaseñor did not immediately confirm whether she plans to run the Los Angeles Marathon as trained, though she promised to keep fans posted on how her recovery affects her upcoming schedule.
